Hybrids - which one do you recommend?

For what it's worth I almost cried when the face cracked on my old Rescue Mid. That thing was the perfect hybrid imo. The faces on the hybrids now are so hot they feel more like woods than long iron replacements.

 

Man I am hearing more and more that people really loved these. Think I'll have to stick it out. I was hitting it great at the range. Nice smooth fades out to about 210 with decent mid-high flight. I've seen club reviews of people blasting 20' hybrids like 240 and its like what is the point of that?!!! I want to blast my driver and driving iron, not my hybrid. I want to stick the greens from 210 out with my hybrid.

I have the Cleveland Mashie's from a few years ago. I think they are almost free on Ebay now and are great clubs.

There's something about Titleist hybrids that just do it for me. The 913, 915, and 816 are all great. Kinda wish they'd make a smaller head version like the new H2 with the H1's minimal offset, though. I'm sure there's a rhyme and reason, but I just think that would really fit my eye. Either way, they sound/feel amazing and get up quick. You can find like new ones at 2nd swing for a fraction of the cost.

Sorry gotta put the Cally apex if your a strong flight player who likes iron like hybrids with no bias

 

I play the Apex 20 degree and agree with this. I prefer a hybrid I can hit down on a little bit, more like an iron, and it launches great. No draw bias at all. I heard the Steelhead hybrid is similar design but bigger and more forgiving, but I don't know if it is square. I carry my Apex a reliable 210 and that's a great distance for me at that loft. I have hit some highly accurate shots with it and it will stop on a green. Of the iron-like hybrids, it's as good as it gets.

 

I've not tried the Apex, but for many years I played the Adams Pro Gold which is similarly square faced and ironish.

 

I now have the Steelhead XRs and whilst I can hit them a long way, and they are very forgiving, they do not strike me as square.

 

I can fade them if I concentrate, but my normal shot with them is a stronger draw than I would prefer.

 

I'd love to see a Pro version like the irons, but would be peeved after buying the regulars.
