r7 TP. Everything good about the Vsteel but longer and with the ability to adjust weight.

After that is whatever is at the moment in the bag.

I'm liking the F6 Baffler quite a bit right now, but my launch AND distance were optimized at the full 19* setting, so I definitely use mine more like a 5w. It's as long as my Jetspeed 5w was with a little more control and TONS better turf interaction, but I don't think I could hit it as long as my Jetspeed 3HL just by cranking the loft down.

What did you do to the 3446? I play mine as a five wood.

I threw a shaft in it..

Lol

If you wrx stalk me, I've been in the 3446 forever. But the last year the baffler has kept her at bay.

I installed an older mfs matrix 40+ and its a pretty decent setup

Many, myself included, bumped the playing length up to 43" and at 16*, it's as long as anything I've played.

Make sense... I think I really benefit from the shorter stock length for use off the deck. I carry the F6 3-4w as well, and keep it at 14.5* for my home course just for tight tees, or crank it up to 16* for more open but longer courses where I might really need the extra distance from the deck (even though I'm still probably better off with the Baffler).

There isn't a "best ever" but I'll bet my bag that the one most people would agree on is the V-steel. It has it's own thread that's 27 pages long.

This should be the standard reply/answer to every topic like this...

Titleist TSr2 w/ HZRDUS Smoke

Cobra BioCell+ 3W Aldila Tour Green

Cally Razr Hawk 7W Aldila Tour Green

Wilson Staff C200 w/ KBS 115’s
Cleveland DSG 52 & 58
TP Hydroblast Chaska
...all subject to “adjustment” per WRX societal norms...

Nike VR Pro Limited - just enough of an open face to get rid of most hooks, versatile off of the tee and fairway, decent enough stock shaft, still gets out there with other clubs. I've debated going M2 after a demo day, but don't know if I could get it to hold greens when I want to as well. The regular VR Pro was solid too, but launched a bit too high for my liking.

that indeed is a great club.

Titleist 906, either the F2 or F3. Still gaming a 15.5 and 18.5 F4, and still can't find a solid replacement. Also the TM 07 burner tp was a solid wood. Both those have huge cult followings on here.

Still have the Burner 07 TP in my bag, testing to see if an M2 Tour can unseat the gamer.

I've had a lot of FWs over the 44 yrs I have played the game. As we all know, the problem with FWs is elevating them from tight lies off the deck. To do this, the club has to be able to pass closely to the ground without having the ground influence the club at all. Turf Interaction is the catch phrase concerning this. It's a big deal with FWs because most everyone attempts to "sweep" the ball off the ground and if the club contacts the ground slightly before contacting the ball (which happens often with these shots due to the wide sole area), the clubhead can move off-line and spoil the shot. I have always looked for FWs with open FAs because these heads have the least amount of turf interaction, when the clubface is squared, because the trailing portion of the sole is raised. I played custom persimmon FWs for years that I had built with a 4* open FA and loved them. Once I moved to metal woods, I had a lot of issues finding FWs that I liked. I fought with several brands and models until the 975F came out. I found several FW heads that had open FAs and really had good luck with them. I had several in varying lofts depending on how I set my bag up for the course.

When Adjustable Hosel Adapters arrived, I knew the industry had come up with the answer to my needs. All I had to do is buy a FW head with a higher loft than I wanted and crank it down to open the FA and raise the trailing part of the clubs sole and reduce the turf interaction. On top of that, TM came out with the R11 with the adjustable soleplate. I could crank that baby down to the max and they were very easy to play unless I had them set to their very highest loft setting.

A few years later, Cobra came out with the Amp Cell line with the Smart Pad and a trailing sole that curved up. I found that I had great success with these even at high loft settings and have been playing the Cobras ever since. They have carried on this sole design up to the recent "Rail Bottom" (Baffler & F7) offerings. I'm hesitant to give these a go because I feel the turf interaction will be increased because of the rails.

Sorry to be long winded, but I sometimes get the impression that many don't understand why FWs are so difficult to play well off the turf. Turf interaction is the key.

Yes, I assume there is no "one" fairway wood, but whats the fun in taking all the posts out and just saying "find the one you like the most". Bleh. I assume it's more focused at a "hey what fairway woods are you guys knocking around and/or wish you still had".

Taking that approach, I'm a big fan of the Ping i25 fairways. If you can get past the racing stripes (which I personally really like in a FW and hate in the driver) they are awesome sticks. Very clacky sound, which I prefer over the "tink" sound of the more modern fairways. Hit them long and straight and have already hit some amazing shots with the 5w (first 5w I've ever played). Very good sticks and cheap. I think I have less then $150 a stick in my 3/5 with Rogue shafts.
