2nd Swing Shipping of Iron Set...

Just bought my first set of irons from 2nd Swing off Ebay. I got the box today and the irons were all rattling in the box - I found that quite odd. When I opened the box, all they had in the box was some brown kraft paper around the shafts and the irons were just all bouncing around banging each other. I was hoping they would have more protection around heads - thank goodness I bought a cast iron set, but if I bought normal forged irons that I play, I would not have been happy at all.

 

Is this people's experience here that the irons would just be shipped loose in a box like this?

 

Is it reasonable that I should expected better packaging than this? Just wanted to share for opinions and for those considering buying forged irons from 2nd Swing. It would have been nice for the heads to be protected so that I would get them in condition as promised.

Me personally, I'd rather have the heads covered during shipping.

Yea same crap happened to me last year, I ordered four fairway woods at the same time and they packed all four on top of each other without any packaging materials to keep it from damaging. On top of that I paid extra to get all the headcovers but they decided to put those on the side. Upon delivery, there were numerous paint chips along with dings here and there, mostly on the bottom and sides. SMH. :nono: They gave me a partial refund but that was my first and last purchase from them.

Never ordered from 2nd swing but I have from 3balls. The iron set was either rubber banded or taped, I don't remember, together. When I ordered woods they had a thin sock like thing on the head and they were packed opposing one another, head to end of shaft. I wouldn't have been happy if they were just rattling around.

I've gotten hit and miss packaging from 2nd Swing the few times I've ordered from them. Sometimes all loose and bouncing around, sometimes well packaged and protected. I think it all depends on what minimum wage employee is packing the item, how much pride they take in their job, and what kind of a day they're having. It really takes no effort to throw a couple wraps of packing tape around the shafts to keep them from bouncing off of each other, at the absolute bare minimum. I mean, the tape is already in your hands when you're sealing the box.

Off topic here, but have to share. Father in law likes some certain kind of pickles for his sandwiches. My wife ordered some thru wal-mart.com and had the 12 jars shipped to our local store. I, of course, was dispatched to get them. Got there, clerk comes out of the back with a box the size a Christmas tree could fit in. Before she opened it, I told her this was not going to end well. She opened the ginormous box to verify there were 12 jars of pickles. It had about 18" of packing paper just thrown in loose, not even scrunched up. Soon as she opened the box, a smell of nasty pickles consumed the air. Sure enough, 5 of the glass jars were demolished. I had her call the warehouse and put me on the phone where I completely went off on them. More for my entertainment than anything else - stupid things were like $2 per jar.

 

I am assuming the packer of the pickles got fired and is now working at 2nd swing.
