I am facing the same dilema. Purchased a precision pro but it is currently on backorder. But the Leupold is enticing. I am sticking with the precision pro I think. One of the main reasons is the carrying case. The Leupold from the pictures on the website looks cheap and soft. Precision pro looks like it comes with a nice hard carry case like the Bushnell.

Leopold Gx2i2 or Precision Pro ? after the rebates they are about the same price. Any input from anyone with the PrecisionPro?

I just got the Precision Pro NX7 Pro and really like it. It is my first range finder so can't compare to anything else, but easy to use.

I was in the same situation but instead opted for the Leupold GX-2i2. It arrived yesterday and I've played one round with it. It's my first rangefinder and it works as advertised. While the Leupold's case is indeed soft, these are some of the reasons that tip the scales in its favor for me:

  • Weight / Size: NX7 = 7.5 ounces vs. GX-2i2 = 6.2 ounces
  • Water Resistance: NX7 = water resistant vs. GX-2i2 = waterproof
  • Warranty: NX7 = 2 years vs. GX-2i2 = 5 years
  • Company Longevity / Reputation: Precision Pro established in 2014? vs. Leupold in 1907
  • Color Scheme: I'm not a fan of the lime green accents on the NX7s

In the end, reading the overwhelmingly positive warranty service reviews on the Leupold website and GolfWRX ultimately swayed me to order the Leupold GX-2i2. I'm sure that Precision Pro makes great rangefinders, but the added security if the rangefinder breaks down after 2 years is a tremendous benefit with Leupold.

In the Bag:

  • Titleist 690MB Forged Irons 3-PW
  • TaylorMade M3 Driver with TENSEI Blue Stiff Shaft
  • TaylorMade V-Steel 15° 3-Wood
  • Titleist Spin Milled 56° and 60° Wedges
  • Scotty Cameron Newport Mil-Spec Putter

Thanks for the good info.. I didn't realize the Leopold was water proof vs water resistant in the PrecisionPro. Either way I went with the Leopold the $15 eBay coupon helped also..

Received a tectectec yesterday. Was out at the range this morning to check it out. It will eventually give you accurate yardage, but it's not easy to lock on the flag. No matter how steady or exact I was trying to shoot the target. A friend of mine at the range had a Bushnell tour v3 and I was using it. Night and day difference. You shoot, get the vibration, and it's always perfect. Much faster with what seemed like perfect accuracy. Ordered the Tour v4 the second I got home, Tectectec going back.

Leupold for me. Used a hunting model for years, then bought my oldest daughter her own rangefinder for Christmas 3 years ago (Leupold golf, non-slope model) and liked hers so much got myself one, too! Accurate, reliable, batteries just keep on going.

I had one that quit working after more than two years. I contacted Leupold and they asked me to send it in, which I did. They ended up sending me a brand new unit of the most current model. I was certainly surprised by that as the original was no longer under warranty. I just thought they would fix it and bill me the cost of the repair.

This is why Leupold is the only way to go in my opinion. I have several rifle scopes and their customer service is second to none. I have read several reviews on Bushnell where they lack in customer service with scopes and range finders,

Leupold rifle scopes are manufactured by Leupold in the United States.

Golf range finders sold by Leupold a product that is subcontracted out to, and purchased from, arms length manufacturers in various parts of Asia. The respective quality control standards could not be more different on range finders vs. the exacting standards to which rifle scopes are made/held.

Kind of like when Mercedes & Chrysler were under the same masthead.
