I heard the same thing about it. I ordered the 460 in 10.5. It launches prefect. Alittle lower than the normal 10.5 driver. I would say it plays like a 9.8 or 10 not 10.5. Before this I played the titleist 905t and an R7 tp. They were good drivers but this is much better. I play the diamana 63 in mine. I think this head is made for this shaft or something because it is incredible.

I hope this helps.

I just started playing a J33R 460 8.5 degree and it came with an NV75 Stiff. I was looking for a low-launch, low-spin driver and feel that this is better than others I've tried.

I'm really crushing it and find it easy to draw. It looks beautiful at address, and has a very solid feel and sound. I find it to be as forgiving as other drivers I've hit, despite some people saying it is for low handicappers. Still hit it a little higher than I want, but it's a very boring trajectory and get pretty good roll. I'm looking for an even lower-launching shaft and considering a slightly stiffer flex. I would not think it would work well for someone looking for a high ballflight, unless they went with a higher loft and/or soft-tipped shaft.

Right now, considering a PM702, V2 75g, Harrison Pro 2.5. 757 or Diamana 83X X-Stiff. All would be either X-Stiff or Stiff tipped 1/2".

I'd appreciate any of your experiences with this driver or suggestions on shafts.

Does anyone carry these clubs to demo??? EVERY big shop I've been in over the last few years only carrys the balls and won't touch the clubs saying they are expensive (to them), don't sell etc. etc. They all claim they have been burned by Bridgestone/Tourstage/Precept so much that they have ceased to carry them. All will order them but refuse to stock them---particularly the irons.. You will see the occasional wood but in no loft or shaft variations. I must admit that my experience with them over the years has been they are a high quality product that just never quite seems to measure up to the big four. I have played their balls quite a lot only recently switching the callaway's HX Tour 56.

I just convinced our owner to bring in the entire Bridgestone line. We have a huge Demo center and will be getting nearly every club/shaft combo in for demo in the next week or so. I convinced him if he brought it in I could sell it.

I'm currently playing the 460 (9.5*) with PM702 and love it! Just had a Diamana 83 stiff removed and the PM702 installed. The Diamana is a good shaft, but for me I was still hitting higher than desired. The PM702 has a great mid trajectory and work well for me.

I'm really interested in either the 460 or the J33P.

What loft are you hitting and what was your previous setup? How's the launch? I've heard that the 460 launches about a degree lower than other drivers of comparable loft.

Thanks for any info.

TMFan,

The J33 460 does have a pretty strong ballflight. I believe it mostly has to do with the center of gravity of the head. I actually had my clubfitter measure the face angle of my 10.5º and it was actually close to 11º. The practice of OEM's making a 12.5º and then putting "10.5º" on the bottom of it is probably more like why people think the B'stone drivers launch low. It's probably just that they're closer to the stated loft than other manufacturers.

Thanks Bradley! Not many people have played this head with the shafts I'm looking at.

Can you comment on the flex of the PM702 vs. the Diamana 83, NV75 or Speeder 757, for example? I've been playing playing a tipped 757 Stiff, and was considering moving to an X-Stiff in that shaft, as I like a little more control. I swing about 115 with a fast tempo.

I've heard that the PM702 plays pretty stiff but, then again, it's only a 70g shaft. Wondering if an X-Stiff would bring ballflight down even more without being too boardy.

Notice you play Stiff in the PM702, but XS in the PM902. Did you try XS in the PM702? Do you tip it? Is the dispersion pretty tight? Would you stay with stiff next time?

Appreciate any thoughts and thanks again.

Rob

Hey Rob,

I switched to the Diamana 83 in a Tour R7 TP in which I loved and still have. The Diamana 83 in the JR33 seemed to play softer and I hit the ball much higher than with the Tour R7 TP. Consider the Diamana 83 X, but I happened to stubble across the PM902 X and had it installed in my 3 wood because I hated the NV75. Absolutely love the 902 it gave me more feed back and felt better. I considered the PM902 X for the driver, but figured the stiff may do the trick considering the reviews. My swing speed is 115 to 120.

The PM702 S plays stiffer in the J33 460 driver than the Diamana 83 did cut to the same specs. Shaft was professionally installed 3 wood tipped an inch and driver ½ an inch. I hope this helps! The dispersion is pretty tight with this shaft. As for future drivers the shaft flex will depend on the shaft.

Thanks,

Bradley

OMG! Got my new Bridgestone 460 10.5 and love it! I always have a back up driver ready to go, but i think all the others will be on ebay by the weekend. LONGER & WAY better feel than my MACTEC 9.5 (was my best all round driver but never was fond of the sound). LONGER than my 10* ping G2 with the same stiff NV shaft in it (was the most forgiving driver I have but skyed the ball a bit). LONGER & WAY more forging than my 9* Callaway 454 (was the longest but when i miss hit it, it was very bad). All are gone :drinks:

Can anyone compare to the 420cc version?

For me, the 420 launched really low, the 10.5 seemed like a 9. The 420 is a very good driver but the 460 IMO is much much better, longer and more forgiving, true to stated loft. Very solid and the great thing about the J33R 460cc is it does not look big at all, people who look at it say it does not look like a 460cc head at all, I'm very happy with this driver.

Thanks Bradley,

I ordered my PM702 today and am told it should arrive tomorrow.

Was thinking X-Stiff, since only a 70g shaft. But will take your advice and go with Stiff tipped 1/2". My understanding is that the shaft insertion is pretty deep in the J33R head also.

... i measured it just yesterday and it's 1.5".
