Fake MCC Plus4 Grips

Just bought these and something just doesn't seem right about them.

 

The color looks a little bit off

 

The Cord part looks like it has shinier rubber and the core looks off

 

The seam on the side is a good amount bigger

 

The font on the plastic labels look wrong too

 

So real or fake?

If you bought from eBay or Amazon likely fake. If you bought from your local proshop or box store real.

 

I learned my lesson and buy grips from the local shop.

 

Is the bottom one in the 2nd pic the real one and the top the one you assume is fake? Top one seems to have a seam that is evident.

Definite fakes, and not good fakes either, multiple dead giveaways. Good luck in returning these.

Yes, top one is one I just bought and bottom one is from my local shop.

These are the fake ones I bought last year from eBay (along side one from Golfsmith). Seller had plenty of positive feedback and the pictures he posted were of legit grips and not the ones I received. Sent them back and got a refund. I did end up speaking with Golf Pride and the rep said that the majority on eBay and Amazon that are sold are now fake/counterfeit.

 

Yellowish tint to the gray part. Cord is not the same. Seam is evident..... etc.

If you are buying grips on eBay, your best bet is to assume they are fakes. Makes it easier to stomach $10 at the local shop.

Best way is to compare the SKU label to one in your local shop, if it's different it's a fake

Politely mention this thread to the other member, provide him or her an adequate time to respond (12-24 hours). If stated member does not respond provide their username so that we can get the pitchforks out. in the meantime, I would open an eBay case. Please don't say that you gifted your payment.

btw the butt end usually gives it away but these are too obvious. I did however bought mine from eBay early last year I believe and came out real so I got lucky.

fakes.. the dead giveaway with this model is the fakes have a visible seam.

If you're buying Golf Pride grips that are brand new and you're saving more than a dollar per grip you are pretty much guaranteed to be getting fakes. If you want fake grips try to save money. If you want real grips do what the rest of us do, bite the bullet and go pick them up from Golf Galaxy.

I've gotten fake grips before, main difference is in the cord. I still put them on my clubs. Actually feel a little tackier than the real new decades. Got 15 of them for 30$. Can't beat that

I bought some mcc +4 from Amazon last year. Realized they were fake several months later; but kept them on. I'm on my second season in with 50 rounds in them. They are holding up pretty good. Dare I say I'm satisfied with these fake grips. Urrrugh!!!
