Mizuno MP-32 vs. Titleist 690.MB

I currently play Titleist 690.MB but am thinking about trying the MP-32. If anybody has played both, what are your opinions? I like the 690.MB, but I'm looking for a little more forgiveness. However, I still want to play a blade since that's what I'm used to.

Also, my 690s are standard length and 1* upright. Do mizuno's have the same specs as Titleist? If I get the MP-32s, I want to get the same specs as my 690s. Thoughts?

I've hit both sets. You'll definitely get more forgiveness out of the MP-32's, especially when you miss it toward the toe or low on the face. You'd have to adjust to a very different feel--the 690's have a much firmer feel. It's almost like the difference between putting with a putter without an insert and one with a soft insert. I just happen to love the soft feel of the Mizuno forgings.

690.mb's were in bag for almost 2 years. Loved them! Had a sweet spot in the heart due to getting the 2nd ace of my life with them. Liked the feel... Just basically wore a set out. Got the bug for a new set and went with MP32's. Two reasons I made the change. First was, as you say, the perceived forgiveness factor. Are the 32's more forgiving than the 690's? Can't really say they are. Both are quite easy to play, for blades. But, you hit either thin, way out on the toe, or chili dip and you get bad results. With either, you still need to put the clubface on the ball.

Second reason I made the change was bounce. Honestly, I'm getting old! Was finding late in the round could get lazy/tired and lay the sod over one or two shots. The 32's have more dynamic bounce and I felt they wouldn't dig quite as bad. I have been quite happy with the results of the added bounce on the 32's. Just don't seem nearly as easy to chunk a fat one. The added bounce seems to carry the club through the ball.

The 32's are quite a bit flatter lie than the 690's... especially in the shorter irons. I did a spreadsheet of the 690.mb specs and the 32's specs. Then, I had the 32's bent to, basically, the same lie specs as the 690's had been. If I remember, the long irons stayed the same, mid irons came upright a degree or so, and short irons came up about 2 degrees. What ever I did seems to work.

The 32's will probably stay in the bag for another season. May take a hard look at the 695mb's. But, would be better off staying with what works... And then again, that's no fun!
