Poulter at Medinah is still one of the better performances I've seen of golfers other than Tiger in the so-called Tiger era.

 

He's a legit player, hate to see injuries hinder any athlete.

 

Hope he gets all the way back.

The complexities for this business of dollars vs FedEx points is interesting but if they've caught two mistakes then I wonder how many more problems are out there that we don't know about?

I'm kinda ignorant though, is there really a big difference between a 4 handicap in the US and a 4 in Britain?

There's no ESC either, and no 0.96 multiplayer, so a UK 4 is shooting average of 4 over in comps. I think you can get a US 4 by never breaking 80 in casual rounds if you play the tips at a harder rated course.

Only competition rounds count for U.K. Indexes. Depending on the category you are in for every shot under the CSS of the day you get a small portion of your index knocked off (Cat 1 - 0.1; Cat 2 -0.2 etc) so as a 10 handicapper you'd need to shoot 5 under the CSS to lose a whole stroke. Whatever the circumstances ig you shoot over the CSS and buffer zone (adjusts based on Category) then you only go up 0.1 shot. There are anomaly situations where a course can play super tough (CSS 77) and the handicap system will dictate "reductions only" where only the better performing players (those under CSS) have their handicaps adjusted.

 

This means that you can't fluctuate massively. I read in here that people float between indexes of 1 at peak and 3 during the winter, for this to happen in the U.K you'd need to have 20 bad competition round to slip from a 1 to a 3.
