Those putters. Wow he's all in. I was expecting the Odyssey or the scotty in the bag.... Very interesting

The Odyssey is staying for now.

It will probably stay for this week, but he will probably (be obligated to) use it within the next few matches.

I find it most interesting how the TP5x ball started this whole thing.

I think it was more of a bidding war between companies, and although the results with the ball may be true to a certain extent, it doesn't hurt that it makes for a great way to market it/introduce Rory to their staff.

Good info and quotes from Rory in this story ... http://www.golfdiges...with-taylormade

interesting

"Equipment aside, perhaps the biggest takeaway from speaking with McIlroy was a noticeable maturity in the 28-year-old that perhaps wasn’t present when he signed his mega-deal with Nike four years ago. Asked what he learned from that experience, McIlroy was candid.

“At that point you’re making a choice,” he said. “I was going with a brand synonymous with the best athletes in the world and that was part of the reason I wanted to be a part of that and I still am. I’m going to be with Nike for a long time to come. But the process of getting into their equipment was a big transition, I felt. Going from Titleist equipment to the Nike stuff which was, by design, much different with the Covert driver and RZN golf ball, it was all very different and it took a while. If I learned anything it was that no matter how much you try to fit yourself to the golf club it should always be the other way around. I learned a lot from that. It took me a good six to nine months to really get comfortable with the golf clubs and golf ball in 2013, but once I did, I was fine and I was good to go. Now I know that I put my swing on it, play the way I want to play, and if that golf club or golf ball doesn’t match up with that, that’s not my problem. It’s just a product that doesn’t fit me. So that was the biggest thing I learned from that.”"

Of course the buy his clubs feature is active immediately, they're in the business of selling clubs. Wouldn't make much sense to announce him being on staff and not showcase his clubs and try to start moving them ASAP.

How long until we see pictures of DJProtos, JDAYProtos, and (maybe eventually) TIGERProtos popping up?

Maybe if they drop the price to $15 a dozen, then severely limit production below demand?

Wow. Epic announcement!

This one came out of left field for me! Totally unexpected, thought he was going Callaway??

Do you even WRX, bro? I kid. There had been grumblings for a while about a TM deal being in the works.

Love the putters, but I could take or leave the irons, which I know puts me in the minority. I think there are much better looking blades out there. I very much want to continue playing a yellow ball but I might be compelled to buy sleeve of the TP5's now and give them a test drive since I can't get fully comfortable with the Srixon at the moment.

Money talks..........Callaway fans can cherish the fact he played their gear when it wasn't about money!

Very true, I am interested to see if the Tmag fans that claimed he was playing Cally "because they paid him more" when he was playing them for free are willing to admit "yup Tmag paid him more" now that he is actually being paid to play their clubs.

I find it most interesting how the TP5x ball started this whole thing.

I remember a year or so ago when the announcers on tv were talking about Gary Woodland and his switch away from Callaway. They said he found the Callaway equipment and the ball he wanted to play weren't compatible (pro v1x). So he started with the ball that did what he wanted and needed it too, and then built his set of clubs from that.

So basically what we learned is that Callaway irons and Titleist balls are not compatible. No wonder why I don't play well with the Pro V1. LOL.

UDI 1 iron his 290 club???? Why carry the 5 wood

The 1 iron will likely be swapped out depending on course week-to-week. He mentioned having some flexibility with carrying the 1 iron or 1 more wedge.

WAIT???!!! Tensei Black??? Tell me more! How does it compare to the white/blue/orange? Or is this just a misprint?

I meant White. Mis-typed that trying to stay with the madness earlier

Love Rory and think this is a good move, but I'm most excited about seeing a low lofted M2 head. Must. Have. One.
