If nothing else, they both stress how important short-game and putting are to the total outcome of your round.
9 out of 10 golfers love to go to the range and throw out their backs blasting away, but they would be much better served practicing their putting stroke and getting up-and-down and out of green-side (or 100 yards and in) trouble.

Great books.

Great books.

agreed that it stresses this importance... but man, this book should be 200 pages LESS than what it is. there's nothing like repeating yourself repeatedly.

I have The Short Game Bible, I have read it, and I do consult it from time to time. Yet I do not use Pelz's "system". Maybe I should, but I am really trying to let myself play more by feel and less by conscious, calibrated, well thought out movements.

Pelz's method may well be an avenue to get to my goal, but so far I find I have better results when I just look at the target, heft my wedge a few times, give it a practice swing or two to verify, and give it a go. And when I do that, I think (not sure) that I am modulating both my backswing length and my downswing speed to suit.

I think the book is worth reading and having as a reference, regardless of whether you plan to use Pelz's "system".

Absolutely. Those blinded by hate for Pelz are missing out by disregarding the huge amount of info available in both DP bibles.

I have both in my new and growing golf book library.

They're both very long and I can understand why some think longwinded/repetitive. I like that. I like repetition. Repetition grooves imv, and what is said in the books I want to groove, so the fact they're repetivive is just another training aid imv.

Some of what he says I have felt I knew or vaguely had an inkling of, so it was nice to read I was on the right tracks. Some other of what he said was completely new to me and very, very helpful. Some was not so helpful [but not much].

The Short Game Bible in particular gave me many new ideas. Calculationg yardages via a 7.30pm, 9.00pm, and 10.30pm swings with different wedges [heck, I expand it to longer irons] is so simple but soooo effective.

The Putting Bible, amongst other things, gave me confidence that I did indeed need a much heavier putter and to grip down on it. Since reading the book my putting is much, much better. My short game is also much, much better. Altogether, I've gone from 24.0 to 17.2 shots- if you find them, finders keepers ;-)

My library:
Harvey Penick's Little Red Book: Lessons and Teachings from a Lifetime in Golf (Harvey Penick)
Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf (Ben Hogan)
Dave Pelz's Putting Bible: The Complete Guide to Mastering the Green (Dave Pelz)
Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible (Dave Pelz)
Golf is Not a Game of Perfect (Bob Rotella)

(still to read)
The Fundamentals of Hogan (Leadbetter, David)
Dave Pelz's Putting Games: The More You Play, the Better You Putt (Dave Pelz)
Golf Without Fear: How to Play the 10 Most Feared Shots in Golf with Confidence (Dave Pelz)

Bought these used for only a few dollars.  Some of the best money I’ve spent towards my golf game.  Read both of these during this past summer and they have helped me immensely.  Transformed my game this year by helping me to understand what areas of my game needed work and how to improve them.  Would recommend both wholeheartedly.
