Any reviews for Royal Grips?

I put one on my 3 wood to try out. Typically play without a glove so tackiness and grip are very important to me. So far they have performed very nicely. They have a nice soft silky feel to them but are better than GP tour velvets in my opinion. The old gen. Lamkins used to be my favorite grip but I may put the RG XV's on all of my clubs. Very good grip for the price.

A while back I bought some Royal Interlocking grips and when they arrived I was taken back by how small they were. They would require extra tape wraps to get them up to standard size so I just threw them in the spares box. I have good memories of the Sand Wrap Royal grips so this experience was sort of a bummer. The grips weighed 50 grams so it's not like there was a mixup with some undersize grips or anything. At any rate, I like Royal but the devils in the details.

I put their Perf Wraps on everything and haven't had any issues. Some were a pain to install but most went on easily. I was looking for something that reminded me of the old Golf Pride Tour Wraps. This did the trick...better tack than the Tacki-Mac Itomic Wraps I tried last year.

Feel is good, quality seems right up there. I believe they're still made by Lamkin. Don't hesitate to give them a shot.

As above the Perf Wrap, i bought a dozen a month ago on special.

Maybe the best feel of anything i have tried.

My all time favourites are Mizuno M21 and GP TV.

I took a punt on the wrap and feel/texture are really way better than i expected,

better feel than GP Tour Wrap .

Put them on my MP33 Irons.

Looking for some new grips - stumbled on Royal Grips which seem to be sold through GolfWorks these days. I remember years ago these were popular, does anyone have any more recent reviews? They can typically be had for a few dollars a grip.

I'm using the Royal Sand Wrap and love it! Not for everyone, though.

The Royal LinkTech Cord is an amazing grip for the price. I also agree with dr bones, the pistol grip is excellent.

I purchased a set of Royal XV mid size grips in the winter and have used them on various clubs that I have acquired this year. I quite like them as they remind me of the old Lamkin Stingfree grips from about 10 years ago, in fact I would say they are pretty much and exact copy. I paid less than $2 a piece and at that price they are excellent value. They are only .580" core and can be a bit of a challenge to install even on steel shafted clubs. I ended up blowing them on as a result and found that worked much better than using the traditional tape and solvent method. I wouldn't even attempt to put these on an club with >.600" butt diameter.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Any recent thoughts on Royal grips?  In the April 2022 Golfworks catalog, they're about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of similar grips from the usual suspects (Golf Pride, Lamkin, Winn, etc.).

Any thoughts on a brand called "Grip One"?  They're even more inexpensive than the Royal grips.

IMO Grip one are junk. I just recently put Royal Sand Wraps purchased from Golfworks on my clubs and love them. Great value I think.

Strangely coincidental that this post got resurrected, as I'm in the middle of trying to find another set of the Royal Perf Wrap grips I got from Golfworks a couple years ago.  Really liked the feel of these, but they seem to be discontinued.  Since then, I've picked up a set of the Royal Classic V's, and a set of the Royal Linktech grips. Both are nice grips, especially for the price, but I've found the rubber compound used in these to be a little more firm than the classic Perf Wrap model that I preferred, which I would consider to be on the softer side of the spectrum.  It's worth noting that the Classic V and the Linktech are made in China, while the Perf Wraps were made in USA.  As the still-available Sand Wraps are also made in USA, I'm likely to give those a try if I can't track down any more of the Perf Wraps.

I have the Royal LinkTech cord grips and I like them very much

They are a firmer grip, and they are in between a GP standard and GP Midsize +4. They do not list that they are reduced taper, but they are. The one thing I hate about the GP MCC +4 is the squish on the lower hand, the Royal LinkTech is firm from top to bottom and like a GP +3 if GP made one that sat between Standard and Midsize

I have them in my irons, and Lamkin Cord in my woods

if you get the Royal LinkTech grips, I would weight sort them, because they ranged from lightest to heaviest about 6g or so if I remember correctly, so I put the heavier ones in the short irons.

Not a Royal Grip but picked up a set of the Lamkin Sonar Wrap Calibrate grips from Golfworks recently with their buy 6 get 6 sale and it's an excellent grip, great deal when they have the sale on. Also like the reminder in a grip, may have to try the Royal Sand V Wrap grips to compare. One concern I would have is trying to build up the Sand V ribbed into a midsize since it only comes in a .58 core. Does it go on a .60 shaft larger than standard? I've heard comments that they run a little small. Anyone try installing this on a .60 shaft with extra wraps, easy/difficult?

I've got the original Perf Wraps on .600 shafts, but no extra wraps.  Yes, they do run a bit small and are a snug fit getting them to go on, but I blow on grips with a compressor and they expand enough without issue to get the job done.  I would theorize, though, that it might be a bit of a bear to build these up to a proper "midsize", as I'd say in standard form they actually play slightly undersized.

Also, regarding the original Perf Wraps...

From Golfworks:

"We discontinued the original Royal Perf Wrap grips.  They were still using the original tools to make these grips and they were getting worn out.  We would have had to have new tools made

and we were just not selling enough of them anymore.  They are gone for good.

The Sand Wrap and V-Sand Wrap would have the same material."

Looks like I'm gonna have some Sand Wraps heading my way.

Golfworks has several versions of Royal grips on sale.  I'm thinking of getting the Royal M Taper 360 midsize.  I normally play Golf Pride Tour Velvet midsize.

Good experience?  Bad?  Thanks.

The GW ad email finally got to me and I ordered a set of 13 with 4 of them free.  The price is right.  They certainly look like the GP TV I normally play.

I hope they hold up in the cold and wet, I was too impatient to order one and try it first.  Shipping is the same price for 1 or 13 and 13 were less than $3 each.

I’ve had good experiences with Royal Grips. I play the cord Royal grips and they’re just fine.  Hold up well.  My brother has played the sand wrap for years and likes them.   I’ve read some reviews that said the weight was off on some of the Royal cord grips but I haven’t had an issue

I installed these on all 13 clubs this morning and then played 18.  I couldn't be more satisfied. My round was temps in the low to mid 60s, low humidity / no rain so I can't comment on  how they are with wet or sweaty hands. I have played a lot of TV and Crossline over the years and these are similar.  I have some MCC +4 midsize and Tour Velvet and Crossline (not +4) midsize on other clubs, I will compare sizes and weights to the M taper tomorrow.  All in all I'm very satisfied after 1 round.

The Royal grips came in.  I ordered the Midsize Taper 360 at a fantastic price of 13 for $38.xx.

They weighed from 56g to 59g on my scale and are now weight sorted in two batches.  Just a little heavier than GP TV Midsize I normally use.  Waiting on epoxy to cure on a new set of irons and then they will get a tryout.
