SC Newport 2.6

Hoping to rely on the extensive wealth of SC knowledge found on these forums...

 

Are these center shafted babies rare? I managed to get my hands on one... because i am a CS fan. I really like the putter, it is great and it has the alignment aid that SeeMores do (the little dot "under" the shaft) and great feel.

 

However, its a bit short for my liking, 33 inches. Been looking for one thats 35 and havent been able to find any either on here or elsewhere. Do i have an unicorn? or a commoner? Do i have a chance at finding one to my liking or should i just replace and extend the shaft to my measure?

 

Does anyone know if they are discontinued? produced in a short run? extinct!? Ever coming back?

The issue with this putter i believe, is that SeeMore sent them a cease and desist letter about that dot, and they stopped producing them with the dot and i believe eventually all together, but you can find models like this on ebay or elsewhere, they arent extraordinarily rare

 

Edit: the lawsuit from seemore was actually about the 3 dot on a Red X2, this putter i am less sure on, but it seems it would apply...

While I'm not that kind of lawyer, I do understand the difference. And I see that you think the issue (and we're all just speculating here, because we don't know what really happened) was similarities between the Red X2 and the patented Seemore head you linked to.

 

I had always assumed that the issue was infringement of Seemore's patent on the "Rifle Scope Technology" (i.e., the "hide the dot" technology). I had also assumed that Scotty had ceased use once threatened with action, but had probably paid Seemore something eventually, which is why Scotty started using it again on the Newport 2.6 (which is the first center or near-center shafted head he's made since 2007, when he had the Red X2, Detour 2, and Futura Phantom 2, which all had dot(s), and which all disappeared after 2007).
