Odyssey RX putter - insert durability

Odyssey has excellent customer service.

If there was an issue they'd take care of it.

Thanks - appreciate the response.

The insert geometry with the abrasive coating is certainly a unique design, and appears to put a very good roll on the ball. But given the unique nature, I'm curious if it tends to wear off near the sweet spot with heavy use? It looks like it could be delicate?? I could be totally wrong.

I'm considering the v-line for my first mallet and was hoping one of the many RX users in this forum could chime in with some experienced feedback.

Anyone have extensive use with these that can comment on how the coating holds up long term (or at least with plenty of use)?

Thanks in advance

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that I read on a thread on here a few months back that the RX insert ending up falling off the putter face on a few models after continued use.

I'm honestly not joking. I'm pretty sure that there was a thread on here a few months back that had a few different people saying that the mesh of the RX insert was coming off their putters, Sorry, I shouldn't have said that it fell fff the putter, that was midleading. But I'm very confident in saying that it was discussed on here.

Are you referring to the White Hot RX inserts? I heard the issue was with the inserts in the Works line of putters falling off.

Yeah I think that was the works mesh he had heard about.

In this case it's the RX model's spray on coating applied to the insert that I'm asking about. Just wondering if the coating wears off where the ball strikes the face most frequently after high usage.

i actually foudn their customer service to be poor. Had an issue with a white hot insert (very worn out... been gaming it since 2005) and they not only could not resolve it (understandable given discountinued putter model), but just overall made me feel like a beggar when i was asking for solutions and alternatives to fix the issue.

You used a putter for 10+ years and wanted them to give you alternatives? Not many products have a 10 year warranty. i can think of a pretty good alternative.

I'd say the alternative would be to buy a new one. ?

That would have been the easy fix... but they dont make it anymore.

Its not uncommon for putters to last a very long time... Yes i know this is WRX and everyone is scratch and no one uses a club for more than a season and wears out their wedge grooves every 72 holes... but cmon, a replacement insert? how easy is that to do?

yes, alternatives as to how to replace the damage (not faulty). Not asking for $ or pitty, just a solution. Should be easy considering there are plenty of aftermarket people offering inserts for the odyssey line of putters... maybe they should look into it.
