Amazing how many people judge clubs on what color they are or the looks of the parts of the club that have nothing to do with performance. Not to mention, ripping a club that they have never hit. Funny.

If aesthetics weren't an issue then why do OEM's do anything more than just stamp their name on the back of a club? If said aesthetics aren't appealing to some, are they not allowed to voice their opinions? If they are asking $2k+ per set, I'd expect better is all. Not saying they won't perform well. They just aren't all that pretty to me.

I am not suggesting aesthetics arent important to some. Obviously they are. I am just saying it is amazing that there are that many that base their opinion of a club on things like color, etc. More importantly, ripping a club THEY HAVE NEVER HIT. Whatever, to each his own. Also, people can voice their opinions all they want, as will I.

You would hate shopping for golf clubs with me. Looks are the only thing I care about. I'd rather look good and shoot a million. I'm not trying to make a living on the golf course. Besides, if you look good on the golf course, wouldn't you want to hit as many shots as possible so everyone has several opportunities to see how good you look?

At address, they look really nice. They seem headed back toward the topline and sole width of the X Hot Pro, which is still the best, non-forged player's iron they've ever made. The cavity is okay. The price is outrageous.

Personally, what I think is really funny is such obvious exaggerations on your part about others.

I didn't see ANYBODY "judge" these clubs, and certainly NOBODY "ripped" them. They were commenting on various aspects of the clubs, looks and otherwise. But nobody commented on, never mind ripped, the performance. How could they ?

There are some comments about the looks of the clubs and the price of the club - and those comments are fair. Again, no "ripping".

I've been encouraged by the performance of the current Apex irons and they're $150 per. Hard to believe these Epic irons can perform 67% better. And it'd cost me about $300 to replace my G20s and I'm betting I wouldn't be getting a 600% improvement over my G20s from these Epic irons.

I've been out of the country since the Epic Drivers were introduced and can't wait to get back to try 'em. And the release of the new Epic irons, understandably, had also gotten me excited to get back and try them as well. But $250 per ? I'll try 'em but I'd give tremendous odds to anybody that suggests I'd buy 'em at $250 per. (cool)

What is REALLY, REALLY funny is that you base your insightful analysis on reading one post on one thread. Hope you had a great time out of the country.

They look cheap with the color scheme and entire rear design. Is it the angle of the pictures, but they also look like they have more offest than all of the comparison irons.

Callaway's marketing speak "Innovation Without Boundaries. These irons have every performance advantage by using the most ultra-premium materials and advancing some of the most revolutionary technologies in the industry."

Hasn't Ping been using Tungsten to adjust cg and moi for years. For $2k why not make a premium 1020 or S20C fully forged iron. Save the face cup technology for hybrids and woods.

When you have the ability to compare these to others, they look REALLY good at address from a size standpoint. I also like how they look in the bag - scream technology!

Slowly growing on me....

Stop it, D!

These things are $2K? Interesting.

Thinner than the Apex CF16 and better looking at address than the PXG 0311's that people clamor over - what's not to like? The back isn't my favorite, but in "in-hand" photos the carbon does look high end. Am I a fan of the design or the green? Not necessarily. But if I love the business side of things (address) and the tech is there I could certainly be convinced to TRY them. ;)

Agreed 10000% if they were inserted into their lineup as an additional option an not "premium". In the "premium" category for $2K+ I would want to see something along the lines of a teched up Legacy Black with a forged head. Maybe I'm a bit scarred by doing the "ultra-premium" route with PXG, only to be thoroughly disappointed :)

What shafts are you playing in them...the stock LZs?

DG S400 AMT Tour Issue.

Thanks Easyyy. Anything you were particularly surprised by with them? Also do you think they will get much following on Tour?

They are freakin loooooong in the long irons. I will get them on trackman soon but on the course they just popped off the face. Great trajectory on the mid to mid-higher side on the long irons to a predictable "forged cb" flight on mid to short heads.

They felt really good as well. Not muted like PXG either. They had a solid feel and a nice sound off the face that suggested there is something filled in the head but not to much. Meaning not muted.

I went out again today and the 4 and 5 irons were some of my favorite clubs. They were simply fun to hit.

The 7-pw seem more typical. As I worked through the set into the PW I was pleasantly surprised that the shots resembled a more "typical" players cb set. Mid to long irons however had some supercharging nitrous oxide something in them.

Fun and exciting comes to mind. I love the juice of the GI iron... but add that in a players chassis???? Please... Sign Me Up! I am in the honeymoon phase right now. But the honeymoon is a rockin. :pimp:

It must really suck getting to hit all of the new stuff coming out easyyy

It NEVER gets old. I love it.

I could see this serving a similar purpose as the TMB has in the traditional 3-4 iron replacement. Isn't big and chunky like a driving iron, but probably more forgiving than the traditional forged CB/MB.

I could see myself ditching my 3H for something like this. It would fall in line with the cost of a new hybrid. I'm that sense the cost is a little easier to stomach.

Looking forward to seeing your #'s. Specifically in the long irons.

I do not. I can get them though.

I did ask for the 3 iron in the regular Epic and then 4-pw in the Epic Pro. Glad I did. I get so shallow as we all do in the 3 iron I really dont see much of a reason to carry a small headed 3 iron. Looking for high and long. Wider soles inthe 3 iron help me out of fw bunkers as well. Only drawback is with a non pro 3 iron IMO is punching low ones out of the trees to get back in play. In that situation if I have to stay real low I will take the 4 iron Pro and deloft.

I'm interested in your thoughts of the Epic 3 iron vs. traditional hybrid. I don't care for hybrids, but struggle getting driving irons in the air. Would you say it's as easy to get the Epic 3 iron in the air? I realize everyone has a different swing and is likely to see different results.
