2017 Dean & DeLuca Invitational: Photos and Discussion

GolfWRX is live from the 2017 Dean & DeLuca Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The famed course -- it's nicknamed "Hogan's Alley" after Ben Hogan's history and success there -- will play as a par-70 measuring 7,209 yards for the event.

 

Defending champion and local-Texan Jordan Spieth, who's currently ranked No. 7 in the Official World Golf Rankings, headlines a field that also includes 2017 Masters Champion Sergio Garcia and 2017 Players Champion Si Woo Kim. Other notables in the field are Wesley Bryan, Tony Finau, last week's champion Billy Horschel, Kevin Kisner, Matt Kuchar, Graeme McDowell, Phil Mickelson, Pat Perez, and long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski, who was awarded a sponsor's exemption this week.

 

Last year, Spieth shot a final-round 65 to win by three strokes over Harris English, and with the victory, he recorded his first PGA Tour victory in his home state. Spieth, who's fallen in the world rankings since then, is coming off back-to-back missed cuts ahead of his title defense.

2 or 3 on the Web and there are two or three on the PGA Tour who use it as their practice putter but can't put in play cuz of their contract to use the OEM's putter.

Seems like a couple of Callaway guys have Rory to thank for their set of blades. I don't have enough talent anywhere in my swing to even think about them, but they sure look sweet. Very traditional.

I like this tournament a lot. Except for the weird commercials last year for Dean and Deluca. I had never heard of their company and so I did not understand what they were selling. since they ran the same commercial 100 times, seems like a waste of air time.

 

Hopefully this year there are new commercials.

 

Anyway! I hope jordan wins again!

I would say no, I would say the players get free clothes for there caddies to wear, companies are ok with it because it's even more exposure.

Maybe Dean and Deluca figured that out; hence saying they can't meet their financial obligations as the title sponsor for 2018.

 

Sure hope Colonial can secure another title sponsor. It would be a shame to see this venue drop from the PGA Tour.
