Wish they existed.. I've had the yips for a few weeks and today was out and out embarrassing.

Is that actually a thing? I putted earlier this week with a wedge at a par 3 course and it felt awesome. No yips... then today with a putter I was yip city.

It makes you really concentrate on squaring the face and hitting the middle of the ball vertically. I accidentally left my putter at home last summer for a round and had to use my imagination. Next round I putted better with a real putter and now I practice occasionally with a wedge in case something happens.

Wow, that makes sense. Thanks for bringing that up. I'm going to do that and hope it works. The yips realllly suck.

I do that and it works. I once got so mad at my putter I putted last 12 holes with my wedge, didn't 3 jack once.

Heavy, high MOI putters do exist, but the yips are a mental issue. A heavier overall club can help - it's a balance.

 

Change your grip on the club - saw, left hand low, etc. Get over the ball, keep moving slightly, begin stroke, i.e. don't stand over the ball, forget the practice stroke.

 

Also look an inch in front of the ball on your line and keep the focus on that spot until you finish the stroke.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into all of these suggestions. Also going to re-read Unconscious Scoring by Dave Stockton. That book helped me out, but then I took a break from golf and forgot everything I learned from it.
