Fat Cat Putter Grip

I put one on my 2013 Newport 2 Notchback and its unreal. The grip feels like it's supposed to be there. It fits perfectly in you hands and really helps quiet the wrists. I've tinkered with several Super Stroke grips of various sizes and liked them, but never loved them like I love the Fat Cat. I'm using the Fat model.

 

FWIW I'm a 5 handicap and averaged 31.5 putts per round with the Super Stroke and am averaging 29.5 putts per round with the Fat Cat (7 rounds played). The scariest distance (6-12') is now my best distance.

Fat or FLAT Cat putter grip?

I have been very intrigued with Flat Cats. I use a super stroke now. Used to use a 5.0 and now a 3.0. I put traditional with right hand low and do not fully grip the putter with my right hand. It's positioned in a flat matter and not wrapped around the grip so this grip seems to speak to me. I have been saying for awhile I'd order one. I neee to go ahead and do it. The big boy is the one I think I'll try. I loved the Fatso SS but drove nuts getting in an out of the bag. The 3.0 on my two ball ODYSSEY RX is nice , but I want more in the hand (yikes).

Was about to order one on amazon to be here Monday but hell, just took a whim and called a golf shop I never go to, locally, and they have a big boy. I'll go get it today. Supposed to play tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

 

I have been wanting to see them in person before putting on on to feel the texture and to gauge size I wanted. Most golf shops around here have one or so out (now that lamkin distributes them) but only in standard size.

I just put on a Flatso 3.0, replaced my 3.0 slim Superstroke. Only played 27 holes with it, but the last 18 may have been the best I've ever putted. Really takes the hands out of the stroke.

I'm a few months in and really liking mine. I grew up playing a lot of tennis and developed an incredible and thought free feel for where the racket face is pointing. The shape of the flat cat feels familiar to me and I have had good results with the ball going where I feel I am aiming it. My best putting is when I putt by feel and don't use a line on the ball or ground my putter. I see the path of the ball and just try to be free and smooth. My pro shop had 3 sizes and I went with the medium.

 

Edit. Just reread this. Smack me if I say "feel" one more time in my next post.

Which store did you get yours? It's been a few weeks since I've been to Edwin Watts in Nashville and they didn't have the big one. I haven't found one at Dick's either. I'd like to try one out to see how it compares to the SS Fatso.

How did the first round go?

First round went ok. I got no practice putting before the round as I arrived late for my tee time. Was actually nervous never putting it in play before a round. First 9 was my personal best at +1 but shot +7 on the back for a 79. (Par 35/36). The short putts felt great. Straight back and thru and online is easy with this thing. The lag putting was pretty solid for me. Where I felt I struggled or was slightly disappointed was the intermittent putts. I didn't make a dang thing. That 10+ range. I had 2 lip outs and 3 that just missed the cup.

In short, I need some practice with this thing. I like the way it feels.

I will say the inverted Cone technology works better than I could've imagined. I kind of chuckled when reading that on the website. However I not once had issues I am not taking the putter out of my bag. That was always the number one thing I hated about my fatso super stroke
