2007 Tournament Schedule

Well, I forgot to look on the internet for sunday, so I got there at the normal time, and when I got there, they were letting the public play the other course...so if the other course was playable, then why wasn't the Chateau course?

 

Both days, all they had to do was have a shotgun start about 12 or 1, because there was like 132 players, so you can a shotgun still, a couple holes you would have to have A and B groups. But they do that with qualifiers anyway.

basically if your looking to try qualifying for a tour event...you first need to go to the state that its being held in pga website...there they will have all the information needed and applications you can fill out...most big tournaments require a pre-qualifier to get into the monday qualifier..[the one i play in CT is small so there is no pre-qualifier ].. the price for these tournament are $400 if your an amateur or a pro with no nationwide or pga tou status... the pre-qualifier is $200 and another $200 if you get through to the monday qualifer..so basically just go online to the tournaments your interested in and check out the states pga website for the application.. hope this helps a bit

I hear the Bubba Conlee is a great event. Did you play in it last year?

Yes, I did and yes, it is! Really strong field, several college coaches, challenging, fun course. AJGA exemptions available (winner is fully exempt, for example). It a memorial in honor of a top junior golfer killed in a car accident several years ago.

 

They treat you really well, too. Snacks and drinks in a player/parent room (yes, parents are welcome to anything...I haven't seen that anywhere else!). Ice cream truck parked outside with free ice cream for all anytime you want some. Some form of entertainment one night and a BBQ. Alt. rock band year before last that were pretty good. Usually it's the same time as St. Jude you can get passes to it and they may have a tour player or two come to the Bubba to speak and/or do an clinic...no idea if it's the same dates this year.

PS, you have to have a decent resume to get in but Mr. Conlee (Bubba's Dad) is a great guy and will try and help you out anyway he can.

I heard it would be different this year since they need a smaller field...the girls were finishing in the dark last year. But I think he has trouble saying no...
