Mixed bag of wedges?

Just curious of other people's opinions of having a mixed set of wedges in the bag. For example, an SM5 56* with SM6 50* and 62*? I know pros mix their wedges all the time, and it's not like the SM5 and SM6 are that different.

Not a big deal in my opinion. I play a 60 SM5, 56 SM6 and a 52 Cleveland Tour Action 900

my lob wedge is callaway and my other 2 are cobra, its all about distances you want to get and how they work for you.

if your getting the numbers you want then dont worry about it

I was at PGA SS for a Kuchar signing and saw he had 3 wedges. All 3 were different brands

Totally. Your wedges need to do what you want them to do. Different for each wedge - and in any case wedges may have different shafts and swing weights. Those of us who play graphite in irons may play steel shafts in wedges. D2 in irons may rise to D4 or D6 in wedges. Then there's distances. Then there's turf interaction - how steep is your swing, are you a picker of a sweeper. How do you play out of sand - lower bounce or wide sole high bounce.

 

Try out a big selection of wedges off grass and sand. Simply choose the ones that work best, whatever they are. I started off with 24 wedges off eBay, and only use 2 in my bag, both different.

I prefer same brand for aesthetic but also play mixed ones so yeah.....

I prefer matching brands & models but if one of them don't have the right grind or bounce, I mix & match

I need to have the matching set otherwise it would screw with me mentally.

I'm a bit OCD about stuff like that, so mine match. If I found any major benefit of going with a mixed set I would, but I hit the MD3's better than anything else I've tried since the original Vokey SM's, so there's no need to create the inner struggle anyway ;-)
