I honestly think Tiger Woods could find a spot in the announcer's booth if he could get his life together and focus on it.

Really, this is what it has devolved in to?

1. Why would you want this?

2. Why would he want this?

Tiger is articulate, knows the game, and good intelligence. He's not over-opinionated.

Adding the European commentators is a nice relief. Darren Clark is already better than Buck and Zinger. Sadly they still employ the phony grinning surgically enhanced hostess

Well you have to appreciate the "six", but my god I feel I have to go spackle some drywall every time I see her from the front neck up.

I like DC so far. Best comment was someone asking what Beef Johnston had for dinner the night before as he was hitting a shot on the screen. DC replied, "too much"....

Don't care too much for the commentary, but I love the nearly all day live coverage, and the shot tracers everywhere.

I do like Brownie Points, I think Ken Brown is pretty good is short snippets,

But as far as coverage, the picture is mostly horrendous, I can't see or track the ball. Pro-tracer is always a weak line. Can't see the ball land even on the greens. Maybe it's me?

Fox announcers are still struggling. They are having difficulty with golfers names and just don't seem comfortable with the broadcast. A lot of the conversation seems forced and while it's cool the amateurs are doing well, no one except their families really care at this point.

I hope some of the top names make the cut or otherwise the ratings are going to be horrible.

We want Pro Tracer on every shot. ALL GOLFERS WANT TO KNOW-VISUALIZE-SEE THE TRAJECTORY OF THE PROS SHOTS!!!!!!!!!! Period. (the birds eye view is a bonus)

We want the announcers to give us insight into the minds of the golfers - but only from someone with experience - like a player that has won tournaments.

NO STUPID OBVIOUS QUESTIONS HOLLY. Call the golf channel and let Steve Sands write the questions for the interviews, done.

Just show the golf, that's what we want to see. Don't zoom in on the ball we all know what that looks like already.

Don't tell us something we can obviously see on the television, Gary Koch. This isn't radio. And no sound effects with your mouth Gary Koch, it's annoying.

Tracer on every shot is annoying. If I wanted to watch a video game I'd fire up my nephew's Play Station.

Yeah.. watching a golf ball move across a cloudless sky, then a bunch of trees only to lose track of it and pick it back up as it rolls out the last five feet is awesome..

I honestly think the Fox coverage is the best around. I'm not a Joe Buck fan, but he's not terrible for golf announcing. I like all the tracers and graphics showing carry distances & such. It helps to show the kinds of shots these guys play, and illustrates what they're faced with on a particular shot better than traditional coverage on the other networks.

One thing I noticed that the other networks never do is that they on multiple occasions have referenced actual brands and models of clubs the guys are using. I've heard them mention Speith's 009, DJ's & Rory's Spiders, and a Vokey with 4* of bounce that Adam Scott swiched to for this week.

And I never knew that there were so many birds at Erin Hills. Why, there must be millions there. And they all happen to be right next to the microphones....which happen to be in the forest based on the sound. Funny, there are only four trees on the course and we never see a bird in the coverage.

Come on Fox, enough with the "natural" sound effects. Do you think we're stupid......apparently so.

I do not have a problem with the coverage of the open and and Buck and Zinger are not over the top aren't saying anything ridiculous. They are doing a overall decent job and it is what they are paid to do.

Thank God Fox does not play the CBS/NBC game of 'manufactured drama'

The commentary is debatable but at least we're able to watch some actual golf being played, by everyone!

Not to mention the drone shots really are beneficial - for example Sergio's shot today that ended up funneling about 30 yards short of one green (i forget which). Behind the green camera could not even see the player in the fairway, but the cut to the drone showed exactly how ridiculous the shot was, and gave an entirely new perspective.

I absolutely abhor Joe Buck... but this coverage is excellent.

Yeah I guess that's true. It does seem like the Fox camera men are not used to tracking golf balls in the air, they seemed to miss the landing area shots quite often. I suppose that's why I like having the shot tracer.

I understand all the dislike for Joe Buck (esp during football and baseball) as he can't stop talking too much (drives me crazy too).

Yes, last year both he and Fax were horrible with golf. BUT, this year so far, he's not that bad. Yes, I think he has improved.

And, notwithstanding that we will never have a perfect situation where everybody is happy with golf telecasts, I am just happy that I am able to watch it. I prefer anything vs. nothing and am thankful for that.

It's hard for Gary to announce when he's watching the telecast on TV just as we are. We need someone to tell us what we can obviously see.
