Back to the fescue, it's not about it being "difficult", or that the fairways are wide, it's about avoid injury that can wreck the rest of your career. Just not needed. I'm sure they wouldn't be able to advance the ball much more than if the rough were 5" long in those spots, and they would lower the risk of getting hurt. Sure, yeah, I get it, don't hit it in there, but players do hit it in there.

As am I. I struggle to throw rookies in things like "one of the best drivers in the game" or "one of the best short games" ...not because they don't have talent...it's because they (rookies) haven't really haven't really experienced the full gamut of emotions and or tough times. To be labeled as One of the best at anything your "skill" needs to have been really put to the test and been forged in fire. I'm not sure he has really been in enough situations with his back against the wall to warrant the accolades. hence his nuts haven't dropped comment.

 

Well it's a good thing that they have things called "statistics" to show that kind of thing instead of just going by testicular latitude.

 

Rahm is 3rd in SG:Off the tee, in the upper 25 in total driving and has 7 Top 10s. So yeah, this year he's one of the best drivers of the golf ball, wherever his nuts may be. No struggling needed.

 

Having said that, Erin Hills ate lots of great "drivers of the ball" for breakfast, and dropped them in some porta-john somewhere

Agree with Rory 100%. Granted, he and DJ are arguably the best drivers of the golf ball, but if you cant hit a 60 yard wide target, you deserve to lose the golf ball. This is the U.S. Open, the toughest test in golf. There are dozens of alternates that would welcome a Na withdraw.

 

I'd add Rahm and Koepka to that list.

Glad i picked Koepka to win, was a profitable US Open.
