"The iron likely to garner the most interest, however, is the 718 AP3—a new addition to the line. Designed to appeal to those who might feel the AP2 is too much of a players iron but the AP1 has too much game improvement, the 718 AP3 is, as Ines says, “a product we didn’t have.” Closer to the AP2 in looks, the club boasts the L-Face of the T-MB in the 3-, 4- and 5-irons before transitioning to a flat-face insert in the mid irons and no face insert at all in the short irons. “We had a product in Asia called AP1 Forged and this is similar in design to that, except the club isn’t forged,” said Ines. “The lofts are in between AP1 and AP2, making it an excellent club for those who might not have found a fit before.”

I don't get to play as much these days and my current AP2's are a bit too much for me at times. I was leaning toward another manufacturer, but Titleist may have just developed a perfect fit for me in the AP3. Can't wait to demo this iron!

I've played CBs for four years now and love them, but this makes me love them less:

"The 718 CB, however, is a much different club. In its previous iteration, the tungsten in the 3- through 7-irons was covered by a stainless-steel cap. Now the tungsten extends out to the edge of the club. This provides more weight and allows for the CG to be moved slightly toward the heel for a little more draw bias on the long and mid irons."

Any loft information on the AP3s? I love my AP2s but could be interested in an AP3 4 and 5 iron.

I hope they are a little stronger. I would like a little more distance than the AP2 provides.

The lofts are between the AP1 and AP2. You can always just take another club!

me too. I love the CB's and will never sell them or give them up, but I think this could be good for this club. The last version didn't work so well, so they had to change them. I have the 712's and they are perfect.

I can see improving them but why draw bias?

Or you could just order the clubs 1º or 2º weak to accommodate the gaps.

This is a great explanation, we will have to see the offset specs and lofts to see where they are compared to the 716 AP2, AP1, and C16. If I remember correctly the offset and loft of the AP1 and the C16 was the same but the blade was smaller

Agreed!

Why, on God's green earth, would you make a players club with a draw bias?!?

The AP2's look awesome!

Better top line, slightly less offset. Don't really care too much about the badge in the back - I mean I like the design, but I usually gunk it all up with lead tape to get the swing weights to match.

I think Titleist did something really smart in the short irons. They look almost MB like - I hope they perform that way too. Might not have to have a blended set. The early AP2 wedge and nine iron were a little too hot IMHO.

Anyone know what the stock shaft will be? I am praying it's not the DG AMT. I just think that is more appropriate as an AP1 shaft. Please give us a players shaft because I have this premonition I am buying a set of these. :taunt:

I have always wanted a Titleist set of irons. The AP3 just might be the set of irons I have been waiting for. Almost bought a set of AP1s a couple of months ago - went to a demo day and just didn't love them like I thought I would. I hit the AP2s much better and they felt so nice. I just couldn't convince myself that I should be playing a forged "player's iron" as a 10 handicapper. As long as they can keep the AP3s under a grand I think I might be in. Very excited to see and hit these!

Ap2 still have pre worn leading edge? Look good, but definitely hope they still have that.

I wonder if the AP3 is supposed to be competition for the Callaway Apex and TM M2 since both are outselling the old AP1 by quite a bit. Certainly not as good looking as those two.

Different strokes...I think the M2 is too busy and the CF16 went the wrong direction compared to the 2015 version. I am interested in taking a look at the AP3 when it comes out (though I am happy with my i20's).

Ap2 looks great. Still confused how AP3 fits in lineup.

Based on what I can find online and what I was told by a Titleist staffer, the AP3 is the "in-between" the AP1 and AP2. Not forged like the AP2, not a huge cavity back GI club like the AP1. Less offset than the AP1, closer to "traditional" lofts so it fits with the AP2. Perfect for a combo set with AP2.

I can't wait to get a set of the AP3. So glad Titleist couldn't get shafts in time or I'd have a set of the Smoke 716 AP1s. Glad it happened now.

The AP3 are analogous to The Story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. AP1 too big, AP2 too much of a players club, AP3 seem just right. Does anyone know when we can expect AP3 on the shelves?

October 2017.....lame.....golf season is almost over in half the country at that time.....wish it was a Spring/Summer release.
