Caddie Jobs in the Southeast

Looking to go to the Southeast this fall/winter and work as a caddie to fund tournament expenses. Anyone know of any site that posts positions? I figure most will either be luck of the draw cold calling or having an in some where, just wanted to get feedback.

I caddied for a Mon qualifier and a tour pro at a recent LPGA tournament in my area, my first time. I just emailed the caddymaster for the tournament letting him know I was available if any players needed someone on their bag (and I made it clear I know the course - I am a member) and I got 3 responses. If the caddymaster email is not posted on a tournament website, I would just contact the tournament director. Do it far enough in advance cause they get really busy as the tournament approaches.

BTW, it is a lot tougher than it looks on tv, and the pay sucks for the effort you put in. I could have just caddied for some rich dudes in the pro-ams and made more money in two days with a lot less sweat and stress.

Any idea on where to look for a more permanent job instead of just Monday qualifiers or tour stops? Would like to be able to have some sort of home base during the week as I'll be traveling to play in tourneys on the weekend.

I think you have to first take the route I described to get your foot in the door and become 'known'. If you do a good job then you can start asking your players and other caddies if they know anyone who is looking for a full time caddy. BTW, you won't have much a home base if you do this every week - you have to be there monday or tues for practice and pro-ams and obviously stay through sunday if your player makes the cut.

I think he is looking to caddy as his day job at a single course for members, tourists, etc.

Not for a full time position with a specific tour player.

Ed, I would suggest narrowing down the area that you want to be in, Orlando for a random example, and then start searching for clubs that have caddies on a regular basis.

An acquaintance of mine caddies at a private club in OH and the goes to FL in the fall/winter. No clue where he goes though.

Good to know, thanks for the info. Heard the Charleston area is pretty nice from a few friends who went to school down there. I've got Charleston, Charlotte are, and the Atlanta area on my short list of places to head to.

I love it here. Lifestyle is great and if you're caddying you can live in a good spot of town on James island. Fun place and pretty close to Kiawah
