Big Baller Brand sells logoed hats you get made at the mall and is a glorified kickstarter for sneakers it hopes to sell one day. PXG is a far more legit brand with some real money behind it and strong actual products.

I will say this though, Lavar is an incredible hype man. Though it remains to be seen if he can overcome his kids possibly being duds in the NBA.

While just a drop in the bucket comparatively, they had sold $250k worth of shoes in preorders in the first weeks of the shoe release.

Where are you getting those numbers? LaVar? pfft. no chance that is an honest answer...NO CHANCE. It's a private company so he doesn't have to report anything. he is charging $60 for tshirts that I can have made for $12...He is literally trying to fleece people. $50 hats plus the $100 leather one? Gtfoh man this guy is a joke. I would be willing to bet he has sold maybe a few hundred pairs so far and that is it. Also who said that players are considering wearing them? pro's? what number one pick said he considered signing with them? where is he getting the money to compete with the big 3 to sign people at and around $2-4mm/yr for multiple years? LaVar Ball is the only one who knows the true answers and he is a liar.

You say yourself you think he has sold a few hundred pair. He said around 500 in sales in first week. 500 x $500 = 250K.. Also selling some autographed pairs for $900 lol, so could be higher. I would never buy any of it and think people who do are ridiculous but even 500 pairs of the $500 shoes is $250k (which is what I said). Independent reports say $290k were sold in week 1.

"According to the inventory data in the source code for the company’s website, gathered by The Los Angeles Times, just around 500 pairs of the Big Baller-branded three models of shoes and sandals were ordered in the first week — they debuted May 4, and numbers are through the afternoon of May 11. That includes around 360 pairs of the $495 Primes — the low-cut black shoes with the family’s triple-B logo etched on the back. Around 125 pairs of the $995 autographed-in-gold shoes sold, while very few of the $220 ZO2 Signature Slides sandals were purchased. That equates to close to $290,000 of footwear sales through the first week."

Markelle Fultz (projected #1 overall pick) said he considered signing with BBB.

Chad Ochocinco, Michael Bennet and other NFL guys have said they will be buying em.

Look, I'm not saying his plan will work and am certainly not a Lavar or Lonzo fan but he has everyone talking about him and is gaining support. Plus, as I've said earlier even if it doesn't work out, Nike etc. will still be there in a year or two and he could get a deal as long as he performs.

If the Ball's were smart they would have signed Lonzo with Nike or Adidas before draft night. In two years the BBB brand will be struggling and after NBA teams see that Lonzo can't guard a tree he probably won't have as much negotiating power as he does right now. Just my opinion of course.

Let me preface this by saying I don't think BBB will last more than a year or two. That being said, I think it's brilliant. Sell a bunch of overpriced shoes and make a bit more money than a rookie contract pays out, but not tied down to a contract. Then, in a year or two, if he's playing well in the LA market, he can sign an enormous shoe deal with one of the big guys, before any rookie contract would have finished.

Love or hate LaVar, he's well past his 15 minutes and people are still drawn to him. No doubt BBB will sell some stuff, especially with Lonzo being a Laker.

All that being said, PXG and BBB have zero similarities. BBB currently has zero NBA players wearing their shoes, LaVar Ball is far from a billionaire, and nothing about the manufacturing process of BBB shoes and apparel is expensive (other than the terrarium that the shoes are shipped in).

Not at all similar. PXG makes good equipment. The BBB shoes are just sneakers. there is nothing about them from a technology standpoint (materials, design, etc) to warrant a $500 price tag. PXG clubs are expensive but Callaway, Titleist, and Taylormade have all recently come out with irons that are around $2000. Nike, Reebokm, UA, Adidas, etc have not released mainstream basketball shoes in the $300 - $350 range.

The only thing I like wasting money on more than golf is basketball shoes, but I wouldn't pay $50 much less $500 for those ZO2 catastrophes. PXG hired established and talented industry veterans to start their brand based on the premise of "performance at any cost" (at least as I understand it). BBB is starting their brand based on Lavar thinking that because nobody sells crappy shoes for $500 dollars there must be a market for it. The shoes look like they could've been made by Sketchers with their fake boost graphics and Ortholite insoles. They're going to be lucky if they net in revenue what could've been had in a shoe deal, now take out the cost of production for the small batch they'll be making and this is a pretty raw deal. As a side note why does everyone assume Lavar's ability to get attention makes him a marketing genius? People love watching train wrecks, does that make the conductor a genius?

Cannot STAND LaVar Ball. He is so lucky that his son turned out to be something because he is definitely a no one. Guys are going to be gunning for his son just because of the way he is. Sad.

As for PXG, I have hit their irons and there is nothing wrong with them. Do I need/want...no.

Comparing "Big Baller" and PXG is definitely not the same. Screw "Big Baller" as he dumbs down the great game of basketball while PXG at least brings some outside interest (even if it is priced high).

So much Lavar Ball hate... lol. If this brand fails, it won't be on his hands. He has made sensible and even (at times) savvy business decisions up to this point. The reason so many haven't recognized this is due to it being masked by the circus show so many have come to see Lavar Ball as. In reality, if the business model fails, it is simply a result of Lonzo not being a polarizing figure. He may not even have to be "better than Magic and the 'Showtime Lakers'", but he does need to be captivating. ESPN estimated on the Lebetard Show about 3 weeks ago(?) that they had already given the Ball brand an estimated $50M in free advertising. That has only risen and will continue to rise.

Just because you strongly dislike someone, or their philosophies, business models, etc. etc. - it doesn't mean they won't be successful. What better an example than PXG?! They are a polarizing brand (to the extent anything can be "polarizing" in golf). Yet, despite all the fuss about them, you still have Callaway jumping into a market that PXG has had complete control over. The old saying probably has some merit here... "laughing all the way to the bank..."

Side note, Lavar means "to wash" in Spanish (I think its in Spanish?). "To Wash Ball" is this dude's name...

Lavar and one of the younger sons are appearing on WWE tonight and Lavar has a match next week for a title belt hahah.

It was an awkward segment. Fans I think were trying to be respectful towards Lonzo but the reaction to Lavar wasn't great. Wasn't bood, wasn't cheered, that's death in the wrestling world lol

Yeah it was weird. But he is going to just keep getting tons of free press. He had BBB gear in the ring lol.
