I wish Ping would make up their minds as to what face milling they are going to go with. Seems like the keep bouncing back and forth between the horizontal lines and the circular milling. Does the face of this have the variable depth grooves? I can't really tell with the watermark covering up the center.

Boy how many face millings and inserts has ping tried over the years? Through it all the original smooth cast face manganese bronze remains the best..

It may be ugly to some, but it is actually really tough to find a simple looking smaller mallet with an alignment line(s) that extends from the front of the face all the way to the back of the flange without any breaks or a separate top line to deal with.

 

If you have any issues with alignment, using a low offset putter with this type of alignment can make a huge difference. I would love to see this thing come to retail. Head shape looks to be more of an evolution of the Ketsch/Bergen, than a copy of anything else to my eye. Decent MOI and TR grooves I bet this thing is deadly from 10 ft and in.

It looks pretty forgiving, probably aluminum face and steel on the bottom/back. But those don't appear to be TR grooves. Just regular grooves that have been seen on other "PLD" heads.

 

I feel like PING has something up their sleeve with all this PLD stuff. Like they're tinkering around with opening a fancy custom shop.
