how much do senior players practice

Watching a bit of the US Senior open, Thank You USGA, and their physiques are remarkable.

I wonder how much these players work out and practice to maintain their abilities?

I doubt they can beat balls and practice putting foe hours.

Since they have the distance maybe it is the reason they cant compete with the young guys.

Scratch that, 510 yard par 5.....

That and walking 8000 yards 4 days in a row....

I can only speak to ones I know for sure...

Vijay and Bernhard still practice the same as their prime...according to them

Vijay said last year his favorite day to play sawgrass is Christmas morning at sunrise because he can play 6 balls a hole...

Some practice all the time, some don't....

Faldo has recently revived his old schedule from the late nineties and is having a go at it...

Stricker lives in his container regardless of his schedule....

Hale Irwin practiced more(hours) when he joined the champions tour because his pitching needed improvement...

The top guys mostly spend the same amount of time playing they simply focus on different areas of the game...except the ever supple Vijay and Monty

You won't see Tom Kite hitting 300 drivers a day like Rory but when he was competing on the champions tour he remained obsessive about how many balls he hit...

Allen Doyle practiced more once he joined the tour...unless he made that up which I doubt...but he tended to like to play rounds as opposed to range so it is believable...

Hope this helps

Tom Pernice practices and or plays all the time. He also works out regularly. I'm sure there are guys who don't work out or play and practice as much as him, but I am sure there are plenty that do. It is just their way of life. It is what they do.

Freddie plays with his pals at LA CC and the Canyons a couples times a week and then shows up for the Wednesday pro-am ... and even wins some times like last week.

Monte needs to quit , he looks awful almost gross and is just miserable playing golf. Attempting to manage the crowd before he misses another putt is just pathetic.

What's the deal with Jaminez scolding that little kid for moving while on the tee box ! then turning and staring at him when he hit a Spieth ( slice way right) ... come on Jaminez ! be interesting not another Monte

I know its their job but they way they stomp around scowling and throwing clubs is terrible.

Glaring at the crowds even when they are nowhere near them.

You would think at their age they would show a bit more decorum.

Hell, at my age playing in a few events, I couldn't hear the people!

For me when I started to play again, I played a lot, but practiced less. Old injuries were the main reason. I just couldn't

Hits as many balls. I did hit tons of wedges, chips, and pitches, even compared to my younger days.

I pretty much played every day, usually playing two or three balls each hole on the three or four days I played alone.

That senior tour is life's ultimate mulligan ... you would think after all that grinding on the real tour , they could just be grateful they can still make good money on much easier courses vs less talented ( older ) players. Ex-tour spanks like Scott McCarron is sure happy though , he can actually win something now. And Monte should just be happy he is alive or at least tee up his ball.

Monty looks like he is ready to collapse after 2 holes.

HOT and HUMID..

keen observation, no rust on you.

LOL check the time on the posts. You are getting a little rusty yourself. Dont worry comes with age.

I'm no pro...just a senior...and that is pretty much my routine. :-)
