Been playing them for about 3 weeks now and like them, however, I think for the price you get very very similar performance in kbs tour 120. If I didn't know which shaft I was hitting I wouldn't be able to tell by ballflight or feel. Both feel very good, slight edge to $ taper. I wouldn't pay the premium over kbs tour 120 though, not much difference to warrant it. Just my honest opinion to help others.

Got my test KBS Tour $ Taper shaft last week. It came with two uninstalled stickers. Had it installed in a test iron. Not sure how I feel about it, yet. Being use to PX 6.0, not sure if its me or that the shaft has a unique bend profile that doesn't fit my mechanics. Time will tell, or will order another test flex.

will be ordering a set of Black X stiff as I used to have a set of tours years ago that felt awesome but ballooned on me so I am excited to give them ago. I will be replacing my C-tapers and going back to standard 1/2" length progression. if it does not work out I will let you know and you can expect an add lol hopefully not

I'm nervous moving forward with these as they may cause some joint pain like all steel seems to for me at some point, but until then, these will stay in play.

Just as I had anticipated I started getting my elbow pain again. Not sure if it's a one time thing or if it will continue. I want to use these shafts but I think physically they will be more abusive then I want them to be.

Going to go back to the steelfibers for a few weeks to see how that feels.

It is definitely different. I am hitting PX 6.5 for quite awhile, and now have a set of i200's with S Taper S+ I'm messing with. The best way I can put it (for me) is that at 80% the S Taper are amazing, but I don't have the timing for pushing it past that yet. On the flip side, the PX 6.5 has to be swung at 80% (for me) plus to make it perform. Definitely different. All in all, if I put the time in with them, I do feel I would be more consistent, I will just need some patience...

I'm really trying to like these, but I think I've gotten too accustomed to the PX 6.5 feel, flight, etc. It's starting to remind me of an experiment with PX LZ's...

I may be changing my tune regarding KBS $ Taper. Wondering if the head made a difference, had it installed in my regular 6i head, as opposed test 6i head. Night and day difference. Sweet feel, even found an extra 6yds of straight carry distance off a tee. Haven't played with it enough to see how effective I can be moving the ball left and right. I compared KBS Tour S to KBS $ Taper, there is a difference for me, in feel and distance with latter shaft giving an extra 6yrds of carry, but same trajectory. I have a PX 5.5 shaft coming this week to test. Getting a bit anxious and tired of testing shafts.

Last I heard, KBS was going back to using stickers on all the $-Tapers because the 360* 'permanent decal' was causing some production problems. Not 100% sure, but I think I read that on this forum. However, if your set has the 'permanent decal' version then indeed it would seem very risky to attempt to try and remove it. I can remember when early Project-X shafts had a permanent 'silk screened' label, before it was decided that it would be best to return to using the conventional shaft labels instead..

I heard that too only from people posting here in these threads. I need to call kbs and make sure, I do know for a fact they were selling shafts without 360 label at first because the label wasn't ready yet.

my $tapers have stickers with the usual shape and size (non 360)

I think most people would rather not see the shaft label/decal at address...that may also help explain any decision to change to a label that doesn't wrap all the way around the shaft..

yes I think I am stuck with the labels, but that is the only thing I can complain about. I just got back from the range and they felt great, from what I can remember they feel very much like the Tours but I was not spinning the ball off the planet. Coming from the C-tapers which I thought were great feeling shafts the more I hit the $-Tapers the more I liked the slight loading and kick at impact which to me feels a bit smoother then then the C-taper but I was not loosing the head at my somewhat aggressive transition.

this may be the honeymoon period but so far these are feeling and performing great.

Previous shafts where C-Taper S+

Now $-Taper X

$-Tapers launch slightly higher then the C-Tapers and spin was slightly higher maybe as the C-Tapers where S+ and the S-Tapers are X

I was just coming to post the same thing...I was completely unfair to the shaft - it was a SW issue. The irons I am testing them in were coming out at D0-D1. Once I got them to D3 and D4 for the wedge, I really really like them...

Through two rounds all I can say is that they feel so, so smooth and balanced. So smooth that at 125 grams they almost feel too light in certain clubs. I played C-Tapers at 125 grams (S+) most of the summer and these actually feel noticeably different to me. I actually liked the C-Taper too for what it's worth.

I've never hit the Tours or any of the other KBS offerings so I can't compare to those, but these definitely don't feel as harsh as the C-Tapers, and much smoother. I hit a few shots into the wind and I do notice a more penetrating flight compared to Dynamic Gold, which is why I wanted to switch back. No matter the flex (have played S300 and X100) I can't stop the ball from ballooning with a Dynamic Gold to save my life.

I very much wanted to try a Modus but can't find one in a weight and flex combo that I like. So far I'm very pleased with the $-Taper and I really like the "mid-flex" offerings from KBS.

All along hoping they'd work for me, after a month of testing KBS $-Taper Stiff, decided they were not the best choice. Just didn't feel right off my 716CB club heads, as if the tips were almost board like.

KBS Tour S was a bit too lite. So, bought a set of KBS Tour S+ (125gram) and one KBS C-Taper Stiff (120gram) for my SW. After 3wks of playing them, I am happy. Tour S+ stay with my swing mechanics. I can go after a shot and not worry about losing it left, which was the case with KBS Tour S. KBS Tour S+ are nice and smooth, feel a bit stiffer, no doubt due to weight, all while providing mid trajectory and plenty of spin on green surfaces. Chose C-Taper Stiff for SW because of how it feels. I like its lower trajectory and that I can spin it around the green. :beach: Finally, I am done with the irons. :)

Any long term reviews to share?

Callaway offers these at no up charge and plan to try them but tried c tapers and didn’t like them due to the lower SW compared to DG. I assume the SW on these is similar to the c taper but can someone confirm that?

Forgive my ignorance but what can be done to increase the SW other than lead tape? Do these come with tip weight installed? If not then I guess that would be the answer to get the swing weight up.

Thanks

I found that I needed to install quite large tip weights in the C-tapers and only small ones for the $-tapers

I love the feel of the $-tapers, still really stable like the C-tapers but smoother with a little kick at impact compared to the C-tapers.
