Mizuno T7 Wedges - Reviews? Thoughts?

DNice26

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Any reviews or thoughts on the Mizuno T7 wedges?

I won some Spider man S400 shafts from TT and I'm thinking they would look silly in the blue mizuno T7 wedges. I don't want to blow the shafts though on heads that aren't great performers.

Thoughts???

Cheers,

D

Straight cash homey!

I have had mine in since last fall, favorite wedges I have ever had, honestly thinking about grabbing another set at some point, just love them.

Awesome! Thinking the blue heads will look ridiculous with the spider man shafts. Thinking about a splurge.....

I have demo'ed one. All I can say is solid, nothing more, nothing less. The trajectory with the stock shaft is what I would call a medium flight. No ballooning but not super flat either. Spin is consistent. I think it really comes down to how the tear drop shape fits your eye because it will perform nicely. I will say they are a tad firmer than Mizuno wedges I have played the past, but they are still slightly softer than Vokey wedges, and I feel like Vokeys are fairly soft. The wedge I demo'ed was a 50* so I can't really comment on the different grinds and such. I do believe that the boron will wear slower than other, traditional forged, carbon steel wedges I have had in the past.

I've got a set of T7 wedges in play this year. They just went in play about a month ago and I don't have a ton of time on the course and practicing with them, but what I can say is that they're as good a wedge as anything else out there. Some will say they're not as soft as other forged wedges, but with being a long time Vokey player, I really don't have a frame of reference. I will say they do feel a little softer than the Vokeys that they replaced. I really dig the blue heads, they frame the ball nicely, but the finish on the sole, especially the leading edge does wear pretty quickly. All in all, I'd say go for it.

Had my 55 and 60 t7's for about 3 months now. Seriously some of the best, if not the best alone. The grinds are very good, the grind on my 60 makes bunkers a piece of cake, and the 55 grind plays beautifully for straight pitches as well as opening the face. Good spin for both, but the key is distance control is so simple with these wedges with that consistent forged feel. It's more solid than previous Mizuno offerings but it's so consistent you wouldn't notice. As far as wear and tear these two have been through the wars with me and still kicking, faces still look very nice, the blue finish has truly worn away on my 60, but it adds a rugged finish I think. Looking to refresh these wedges and get another 3 before they bring out their next wedge model.

Just ordered the Blue ion T-7's a 52 and 56 both with C-Taper 130 X soft stepped. Looking forward to playing them.

Great wedges. Favorite set in years. I bought a 50, 55 and 60 in the T7's and they are my low bounce wedge set. When i need high bounce for certain courses i went eith Miura K grinds just to have something different but i could easily have just bought another set of T7's with high bounce and been happy with them

I've had an MP T5 52° for about 3 years and love it. It is getting a little worn and I'm now looking at the T7's. The headshape seems pretty similar, which I like. The graphics are a lot cleaner as well. Is anyone able to compare the "softness" between the two and are they comparable?

Thinking I might need to pick up one more high loft or an extra set before they are no longer available to order. Looking at the new Mizuno Pro S18 wedges from TrueSpecGolf website and those don't look as nice as the T7's. Look more like the S5's

My 56-degree is my do-everything wedge when it comes to less than full shots. Works OK too as my 75-yard full swing club. I've found for chipping and pitching around the greens I can open it up a few degrees and still line it up easily which isn't true of some wedges. The grind on it also seems to interact with the turf similarly whether played square or opened up 5-6 degrees. Nice grind.

I added the 60-degree T7 recently as basically a bunker-only clubs. Seems to work OK although my bunker game is so rudimentary I hesitate to say yay or nay about it. I very seldom use the 60 around the greens as I've practiced those feel shots a lot more with the 56.

For the first time ever I find a open-faced 56 to play almost exactly like a square-faced 60, rather than feeling like I'm trying to manufacture something.

Thanks. Thinking about a 54 and the 60 with 10* bounce in Satin. My MD3 60 PM grind has too much bounce. It's great from the sand, but not happy around the greens with it when I need to flop it.

So if you used your 60 almost always (say 95% of the time) out of sand, you'd be happy with the PM 60? Must say I've been tempted to try that option at some point.

Love mine. I have the 900 tours with C-Taper 130X and got the ion blue T7's with same shaft but soft stepped. I have the 52 and the 56 the feel is great and feel they are pretty under rated. I got rid of SM6's and couldn't be any happier. May even pick up some backups just in case.

T7s are fantastic and face/grooves seem durable after considerable play this year. I play 50/54/60 ion blue in the project x lz 6.0. I like the fade on the sole from blue to silver in the bag. Also, the boron hating makes zero sense- I get that the Mizzy enthusiast (and I have played MP irons for ever, including the MP5/25) wants to buy the Japanese spec but can't convince me this is not vanity. To each their own, though. The stock wedge feel is plenty good. Compared to other wedges, the T7 gap wedge is a perfect match with MP irons in terms of offset, leading edge and blade length.

I think they are phenomenal. I could easily bag a 46/50/54 combo, would need a little time or grinding to get a 60* to my liking (but that is basically every brand).
