Was Bones in talks with "certain" networks to become an on-course commentator well before the announcement?

YES. finally, you got something right.

This was known information and should have been communicated prior to the US OPEN.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Why?

Contract negotiations for both entities. Sponsor agreements that pre-exist, any number of reasons to NOT promote it

But why do you feel entitled to know this??

You sound like a scorned high school kid

I can see some of you disagreeing with me. It’s an open forum, sure I get it.

Some?? Good god man. Can't someone in your family pay some attention to you? Take the dog for a walk maybe? This is a weird way to troll for attention.

Ferg-Dog is impressive for the simple fact that he hasn't given up yet. How can he STILL come up with responses??

He's just a dedicated troll. If your goal is to be outlandish and base your personal attacks on people purely on supposition and "what I think happened" the replies are endless!

A bag of left-handed junk.

To me, Phil has always been a caricature, set up by this image of “super technician” on the golf course with his flop shot trickery. When you peel away the outer wrap he’s nothing but the little kid who had to wear a helmet around his house to protect himself. That is exactly what this image does – provide protection. I think Bones exiting Phil’s Fiefdom is probably a good thing for Bones in that he won’t have to listen to countless minutes of Phil’s game analysis. I can’t help but reminded by the articles I read that point to the timing of these events. After Phil stopped winning in 2013, the wheels have started to “shimmy.”

How to I keep the adrenaline flowing......................?

Maybe I should gamble?

Maybe I should break the law?

Maybe my game isn’t good enough, so I will opt out of the US OPEN in favor of my daughter’s graduation.

Maybe I should change caddies?

Maybe I should hire my estranged brother?

I would never block Fergie. Outside of this thread he's just another good, regular poster. It's just this one.......

I've never been one to call for a thread to be locked, but in this case I think I would be all for that. Because it's like a car wreck, I just can't look away.

When I see the notification that Fergie has posted here again, I just have to read it.

So, in that vein.......mods, please, please, please lock it up! And save us all from more of Fergie's delusional, hating Phil driven posts.

Since I spend so much time in my car I listen to Sirius PGA radio a lot. The best reasoning I've heard was from Dennis and Carl Paulson on ITR. Dennis plays a fair amount of golf with Phil and he seems to think one of the reasons Phil hasn't won in a while is because Bones and him were over analyzing every shot even more than usual. He thinks by having Tim on the bag he may just get back to just hitting golf shots with feel the way he used to.

This is the most logical explanation I've read so far. Sometimes change is just good for everyone, especially in the workplace. There is no doubt Phil can overthink things on occasion. Sometimes he is brilliant some tomes he is his own worst enemy.

I've read about 50 stories of Phil being outgoing and kind to strangers without any cameras around him. Am I going to believe all of those people or an internet troll?

I've met Phil.. and Bones.. neither were what I would call nice. I also know people who work at clubs who host very big PGA Tour events and they all say (ALL) when he strolls in town he is the only pro that comes with a list of demands for the staff. I've also seen how he acknowledges and smiles at every kid he sees during a round of golf and just how excited they get, so there's that side of him too. For every story about how great he is, there is one about how he's not. Can he not be both? He's no Arnie..

He's no Arnie?...fair enough. Keep in mind Arnie had a few skeleton's in the closet as well. I am a huge fan of how Arnie conducted himself in the public eye, but he didn't walk on water, and I'm quite confident there are some things about Mr. Palmer that might shock a few people if they knew first hand.

Arnie and Jack were famous before the internet when it was easier to cover up any poor decisions or indiscretions.

They both have/had their private life and their public life. Honestly Phil is probably the closest thing to a modern day Arnold Palmer. Maybe Arnie was a bit better at it, maybe it's the internet, but there are a lot of similarities between the two.

Maybe Phil can be demanding, but there are also legendary stories about how he takes care of people, throwing around $100 bills for the people at the tour stops who take care of him. I have read many stories how the locker room attendants are very happy when Phil comes to town.

I have never met Phil, and I have had only one brief interaction with Mr. Palmer, and I saw the really good Mr. Palmer that could light up a room and I witnessed a side of him that while I didn't find it shocking, but it made me realize everyone behaves a little differently when they are with friends than when a TV camera is in their face. I'm not throwing stones here, I think they are both very accomplished people who conducted themselves a fine manner over the years.

I just saying this because sometimes it's easy to put certain people on a pedestal while we beat others down, and often times the reality is there isn't that much that separates them.
