Nice trip. Sorry to hear about Devil's Thumb. That track is very under rated. I usually love playing there because you don't run into anyone and there are no houses on the course. Not to mention, I've seen Mountain Lion prints in the bunker following the Antelopes lol.

I think it may have been an 18 hole men's league that really struggled to keep up any sort of pace. I really liked the course and really liked Delta and Cedaredge A LOT! I bet that is a pretty nice, laid back area in which to live.

The west slope is very nice. One of the few places I would move to.

I think I'll definitely spend some time out there once I purchase a RV and do some traveling.

August is good time to go. Peaches are being picked, best in the country....if you ask me lol. Cantaloupe and sweet corn come around that time of year as well. Not to mention the wineries. Then head south to Telluride. Ouray and Telluride are probably my two favorite getaways but only go every three years or so.

 

Tom Wishon is down in that part of the state too. I've always been tempted to go say hi and go through a fitting or something like that.

Tom Wishon was at Durango, at Dalton Ranch. Not sure what he is up to now that he sold the company. Hopefully he will chime in.

I know I am late, very late to this thread but it was a good read. I wish I saw it last year and I would of chimed in with my .02 I moved to Utah in 91 and love Moab I go as often as I can but never bring my sticks. Moab is camping, Mt Biking, bring my Jeep or hitting the Nat. Parks. Neither course in the area has a great rep. Southern Utah golf is all about the St. George/Mesquite area.

I really enjoyed the moab course layout. But to each his own. A certain someone here rips anyone for liking the austin city courses, which have some fascinating layouts as well...sometimes you get on what is supposed to be a highly recommended course, but find it unappealing. It's all in what you like. :)

Bill sorry this was not a dig at you at all.......as you said "to each his own" I was just making the point that Moab is not considered a golf destination and if you are making a golf trip to southern Utah St. George is the best choice by far for a golf experience. Now if you want a round of golf and to visit Arches or Canyonlands NP or to ride Slick Rock Trail then Moab makes sense. But even then if I could I would golf St. George then go to Moab for the other stuff.
