Bridgestone J33 Cavity Back

Hey everybody! Been looking for some forged irons and I would really like to know how everbody feels about these. I typically shoot somewhere in the range of low to mid 80s and occasionally in the mid 90s. How do you think the J33 CB's would work for me. I have a set of X-18 pro series now and I would like something forged with a thin top line. I have been looking at the Macgregor MT Pro C irons but i love the look of the J33 CB's. I want something that is forgiving, has good feel, and not to pricey. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Go for it, I am an 8 to 10 handicap and not the best iron player in the world but I find the J33 CBs to be forgiving enough. I like the forged, small blade like, thin topline finish and these irons have all of that. They are also cheap on Ebay. I've had mine for almost 3 years and I change equipment a lot but always go back to these. They will have the same forgiveness as the MacGregor MT Pro C which O also tried, beautiful clubs and great forged feeling too but just the like the J33 CBs better.

I just got back from the range after hitting a newly aquired set of J33's with True Temper S300 shafts. I was previously swinging Mizuno Pro 2's. Two different beasts.

First off, the Mizzies were less forgiving, and didn't like miss-hits...at all. However, they did feel longer, can't be sure though, I only hit ~50 balls with the J33's. Verdict is still out, and I'll need more range time to see how the distances compare.

Onto the J33's...

So far so good, very very forgiving imo. I can miss hit these clubs and they still take off. I was a low ball hitter with the Mizunos, but the J33's get up and go, hence why I think they're a bit shorter than the Mizunos.

Clubs feel great at address, very good curb appeal, and that carries over to the look at address. I love em.

One negative I have so far is that I cannot hit the 3 iron. For whatever reason, it's going further left than I'd like; big fade, borderline 205 yard slice. Not sure why that is. Once again, more range time need to figure these clubs out and get settled in.

Overall, after a paltry 50 balls, I'm very satisfied with the Bridgestone product. Especially since I purchased them on ebay for $200 shipped. I think we have a winner with these clubs.

Estimated carry yardages with the Mizunos

3i: 220

4i: 210

5i: 200

6i: 185-190

7i: 180

8i: 170-175

9i: 160

PW: 140

After selling my 1st set of J33cb irons I've purchased a 2nd set and won't make the mistake again of selling this set. For what these clubs can be bought for they have to be one of the best buys out there right now in a forged iron.

I bought a practically new set from a fellow wrx member here not even a month ago, I have to say these by far are the best set of cb forged irons i've owned. I like the d3 weighted they come with which is just right for me. Very nice forge feel and control. Wont be leaving the bag any time soon as eagled out on a par 4 a few weeks ago in a tourney.

Just took these bad boys out for a round for old times sake.  Damn these irons are still sweet.  I think I'm gonna treat these babies to a new shaft job for christmas.

man I've been debating gaming mine again too. 2 years ago I finally pulled them out of the bag for an "upgrade" and haven't had the same distance or been the same iron player since. Sometimes I wish companies would recreate an old classic. IMO Bridgestone hasn't come close since these.

yeah i went ahead and reshafted them with some nippon modus 130 shafts and I have to say you are absolutely correct bridgestone hit it out of the park when they made these clubs.

It only hurts once, except golf it hurts a lifetime
