Scotty Camerons w/ 350g heads?

Recommended Posts

Was wondering what older model Scotty Cameron's can be found with 350g heads? I have a Studio Select w/ weights that I believe makes it 350g but find the model just a bit clicky for me. Also have a Pro Platinum and like the feel but its a little light. Therefore, was thinking of trying to find another model with a 350g head weight.

Thanks.

Few and far between.

The Studio Style line included a Newport 2 33/350.

As others have mentioned, the Pro Platinum Mil Spec 33/350 is probably the best option.

That's one beautiful picture. I thankfully have 2 of the 350 gram Mil Specs. One of each generation. (Ironically, my Gen 1 weighed 356 and my Gen 2 weighed 354.) What great putters. If I ever pick up a third I'll send it out to strip the pro plat finish and give it the oil can treatment.

As already mentioned, and especially if you already know that you like the sound / feel of the Pro Platinum heads, I would go after a 33/350 Mil Spec. IMO it's one of the best OTR putters Scotty ever produced. The Mil Spec's are known for being heavier than what they were advertised, so you may even want to grab a 34/340 Mil Spec if you see one at a good price. I have a 340g Mil Spec that actually weighs 346 grams.

Another option you may want to look for would be the Circa #3 which came in an Asian Spec model of 350g. I also have one of those and they make great gamers.

If you want to go with a SS head, look for a 33/350 Studio Stainless Newport 2. IMO, it's the best feeling SS model Scotty ever made. Nearly as soft as carbon without the need to oil it.

Were any of those models made in 350g in non-plumber neck variants?

I don't believe so, I think they were all newports with a plumbers neck, and I think the only one you'll have a somewhat easy time finding is the mil spec, even then it might be tough.

AND if you want to refinish this project keep in mind that if you get a dinged up one they'll take a bunch of the weight off grinding it down to get the nicks out.

Have you considered a custom project? It won't be a Scotty but you can get what you want that way.

The newport 1.5's are flow neck and were made with most of these product lines.

You mean the old Santa Fe? I think the putters in this thread (other than the mil spec) were only made in very limited quantities in 350g heads, and the mil spec was only available in a plumbers neck Newport head.

Putting the Select models to the side, the Pro Platinum Mil Spec 33/350 and Studio Stainless 350g heads are your best bet though most are in the Newport 2 style. Neither options are overly abundant, but there are usually one of each for sale somewhere at all times. After that, your options become a lot more rare and expensive.

Red X and Golo have removable base plates with an empty cavity inside. My Red X2 has about 30g of washers hidden inside.

  • 7 months later...

another option for studio select (320 g heads without weights) would be to have the face deep milled (to make it less clicky)

then add weights as necessary to get desired head weight
