Putter Collections- Show off your Flatsticks!

The putter associated with JN and many of his victories was the GeoLow Sportsman Wizard 600 made by Bristol. Besides "white fang", the painted Bullseye he used at the '67 U.S. Open win and several thereafter.

The VIP limited release (one of four versions released in the early 90's, TFP = Tour Forged Putter) you have is patterned after the Mac JN Muirfield from '86 (?), which was distinctly patterned after the original Wizard 600. Note the sharp toe top line. GeoLow Sportsman 600's, if one can be found, bring major $$.

My Mac JN Muirfield putter. Very nice condition, carbon steel, original leather grip. A very nice roller that keeps one honest in the execution of one's stroke.

I need to stay the hell out of this thread. Getting very counterproductive thoughts viewing these very nice collections.

Haven't got any nice show cases like above. But I have built a bit of a collection of 8802 styles in a short space of time.

Intrigued about my latest one (on the far right) - the MacGregor VIP TFP 90-01. It's labelled 275 / 400 on the hosel.

If anyone knows anything about them, PM me (so as not to hijack the thread). thanks.

Come on gents! Let's see them!!

Not sure why others aren't posting. But anyway......

My collection of 8802's above has risen from 9 to 13.

New additions are Wilson Staff 8802 (a 2nd one), Wilson Staff 8882 Blk, Spalding Epic 602 and a Yes Sophia 12.

The 3 on the right are my own re-finishes (polished, black enamel paint and gun-blued). The rest are as purchased.

Hard to get them all in rotation. But recently have played with the MacGregor, Old Master (shiny one), Wilson Staff 8802, The R Mendrala Version and "The Wilson".

Only seems to be me posting here, but what the heck.

My 8802 style collection now stands at 17 I think (might be missing one or 2 in these photos).

I've been playing the Cobra CNC Milled a lot, and have just stripped back the gun blue finish to do it again.

The Old Masters, MacGregor, Wilson 8802 and 8802 Staff are regulars. Yet to play my Ryoma L-1 Forged. It is mint and too damn nice for me to want to spoil it.....yet.

And recently picked up the Acushnet Heel-Shafted Flange. I had no idea they made a putter like this. Very nice, but very light.

C'mon folks, share your own collections.

Very nice...wish I could putt with that style but found out pretty quickly that I couldn't

I'm no great putter and I originally thought the same Lefty.

But I find they suit me down to the ground. I like the plain simple design and prefer those with nothing on the top. No lines or dots. I certainly putt a lot better than I used to.

Also, to my eye, these 8802 blades are some of the most beautiful putters out there. This one especially. Ryoma L-1 Forged -

Nice stick Baz. The 8802 style takes some getting used to Lefty but it will improve anyones stroke and puts a very pure roll on the ball. The trick is finding the 'sweet' spot which is a lot closer to the heel than a regular blade style modern putter. I have found over the years that even many manufacturers have put sight alignment aids in the wrong spots when it comes to 8802's.

I have been very busy lately but will post all my blades in the next few weeks. :-)

kind regards,

Rob

Here is a few pictures of my office set up. Started collecting 8802, napa and bb2 style putters about 4 years ago. I game a refinished 8813 from the late 60's. Like the club head to be lighter than the usual 350 g. Have some old stuff also. Love the history of golf. My latest pick ups were the original ping ansers shown with ball markers behind them...I now have three, Have a designed by arnold palmer but looking for a wilson staff 1962 without the designed by stamp...

I've already posted the "Homer Drooling" meme on the other thread :)

That is some collection Rob. And I know it's probably only a 10th of your entire collection.

If/when I get down to Sydney I'm gonna have to beg you to allow me round for a gander (cool)

Ha ha, thank you for the kind words Baz. Quite a compliment from a man with your great collection.

There will be no begging my friend. If any of you boys get to Sydney, you will a place to stay and some of my Chef wife’s home cooking!

That is some collection there Lefty!!!

Not often you will see L/H Byrons, Manns and Pirettis sharing the same couch!

Those Protos are unreal - cool stamps.

Rob

It's a rarity for sure. Hard enough to get lefties made, and even more difficult as center-shafted.

The two protos were handmade that Tom Slighter built for me. The Satin stainless is one of my favorite putters I use for sure

Beautiful putter; I took mine out on Sunday. Still rolls the ball well and I agree with you - it will keep one's stroke honest. :-)
