This. SOOOOOO MUCH this. :)

ย

I signed up for DirecTV Now when they first launched. They ran a special for $35/month you got their mid level package and you locked in that $35 as long as you kept your package. I think this package is $60/month now? They were also running a special if you paid 3 months in advance you got a free Apple TV. Has login capabilities to most channel apps too and for those I can't use my login for I have my parents login

ย

It's something new they're trying price wise. Instead of hitting you for equipment charges and dvr charges after the cost of the channels themselves, they're now including it in the price of the channels (for up to 4 rooms, I just looked). That's the main reason for difference in price, because just last year I helped my parents sign up for it and it was much cheaper than it is now.

ย

DirecTV Now is DirecTV's streaming service, it is not DirecTV with a dish. I pay for no equipment, no fees, no extra BS. I pay $35/month period. It has only been around since I think November of 2016 or January of this year.

I got the exact same deal. As an early adopter I can say it was a frustrating experience and wasn't sure I was gonna keep it. The service has improved noticeably since then.

ย

My only complaint is no DVR yet. But we have the Apple TV hardwired in our living room and havent had many issues. For $35/month and no equipment fees, I can deal with a few issues. Had I been paying full price of $60/month I would have been more irritated but that carrot of "Locked in for life" was too good of a deal to walk away from.

We looked into it, but Vue doesnt have the right combination of channels to make the wife and daughter happy at the same time as making me happy. DirecTV Now says that the same kind of cloud DVR setup is in the works

Yeah but isn't the Apple TV $150-200? That's not insignificant even considering about 2-3 years use per model.

Apple TV is $150 one time cost. That is cheap compared to $240/year, per box, for cable box rentals.

Apple TV was free with 3 months prepaid service when I signed up. So I got a $150 piece of equipment AND 3 months tv service for $105 at the time, on top of only paying $35/mo as long as I don't cancel.

I really wish the broadcasters would take the less is more approach sometimes. With the current broadcasts there are cameras and mic's everywhere, and yet so many times when the audience could be listening to the exchange between player and caddie, we instead have to hear Miller/whoever else is in the booth talk over them.
