Edel putter fitting

So I confirmed that when you do an Edel putter fitting (at their headquarters anyway), you only use a round grip, and they will only build you a putter with a round grip. Since going to a superstroke type grip I can't ever see going back, and even the standard grips on most putters at least have a flat side to help keep your wrists stable.

 

Edel said I could change out the grip myself if I wanted to, but why would I pay over $300 to buy a custom one with a round grip, and then have to change the grip? Also, their website mentions how changing the grip can affect the performance of the putter, so that goes against the whole concept.

 

What am I missing?

I'm surprised they won't at least do one of their other grips. I got rid of my round grip quickly and put one of their big dogs on there and like it way more.

This is sad to hear as I was looking to go down to liberty hill and get a fitting soon. I use a flatso and planned on ordering my putter with that grip once done with the fitting.

I did a custom fitting. Fitting cart had the round grip. When I ordered the putter. They put on a custom SS for me. The round is unique. Definitely game worthy.

I spoke with Ryan at their headquarters and he mentioned that they will do the fitting with the round grip but make sure to weight it properly for the actual grip you want to play. So hopefully I can get down there in the next couple months and get fit for a custom edel.

If you order a putter, will they only build it with the round grip or will they put the grip you want on it?

When I had my fitting I had the choice of the round or a more traditional grip pistol style grip. Supposedly in their findings they say there's a difference in your alignment with grips as well. Seeing how that's what their whole fitting cart is based off of I went with the round grip.

 

I had my fittings a few years ago before Super Stroke really took off so it probably wasn't a factory option . However in the off season I sent my putter back to them to put the Pixl insert in and at the same time they were able to put on a super stroke 2.0 for me. That size was the only Super Stroke they offered though.

I make more putts and am less mechanical with the round grip. Don't rule it out without trying it.

That wasn't true when my FIL, dad, and myself got fit there each in the past 6-12 months.

I liked the round grip, may go back to it.

 

I'm sure if you give them the grip you want, they will install it.
