Looks like the gamer Spider has 6 g weights but the other one has 2....interesting....maybe he's experimenting. Also, pretty significant movement of the weights on the M1. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him move to the M2....I know he went back and forth last year...to be fair, I have no idea if he drove it well at The Open.

Pretty sure that is the case. Think I read around somewhere that he will practice with the blade some for feel and game the Spider.

Plenty of guys who play X-stiff in woods but stiff in their wedges and/or irons.

All comes down to feel. Fairly common to see guys with something a little less stout in the wedges.

Very few guys on tour playing XS in wedges. DG S400's TI are by far most common wedge shafts on tour. Comes down to feel, spin rates, and trajectory.

Plus wedges are all about distance control, not max distance. No reason to go full tilt on a 120yrd wedge shot

Very true. Its common to see a player use a heavier and softer shaft in the wedges. For example, X100 (130 grams) in the irons and an S400 (132 grams) in the wedges.

 

In this case DJ has 130 gram X100 in the irons and a 120 gram KBS Tour 120 in the wedges. Just goes to show equipment is an individual thing. Its all about what feels and performs best for that particular player.

Usually with KBS shafts you match the weight you'd like then hard or soft step for flex. We don't know if they are tipped perhaps.

My guess on the two Spider putters is that he brought a heavier and lighter one over to the British Open to account for slower green speeds.
