Ping doesn't off the Project X LZ shaft according to their site. I wish they did, it would make the decision to get a set much easier. I am seriously considering a used set and just swap the shafts

Project X LZ is now available for free. Has anyone tried them, and what are your thoughts?

Are they free upgrade for i200? I knew they were coming stock in G700 but wasn’t sure about i200

Pretty sure that once PING offers a shaft for free upgrade that it is available across the board of their current lineup.

Whenever I’m unsure, I always go to tgw.com and price out with different options. The Project X LZ come up as $0 upcharge. Heck you can also get the 5L corded grips for nothing as well.

Anyone compare distance with some of the other irons out like apex or z565's

I200's are not a "distance" iron

Never tried to the Z565s but I had the older (not CF16) Apex irons and was getting similar distances. A hair more with the i200 per club but I equate that to getting a better swing than anything specific with the clubs. Their lofts throughout the set are close and I think the Apex are sharp but the i200s look superior to me.

About a club shorter.

But, for me at least, straighter and a lot less variation in the distances I get.

That's the tradeoff.. just depends on what you value more.

I got mine with the Modus 105 and power spec'd to get fairly close to the lofts of the G25's they replaced (G25 has C-Tapers). Overall they're fairly close to the G25s, in terms of distance and forgiveness, with the i200s being more playable.

And I know when I say they're close in forgiveness I don't mean I can slap it all over the face and still hit my 8iron 165 like I could with the G25, but a slight misshit maybe drops a couple of yards, not 10.

Anyone have these with recoil shafts.

Have a set on order. Bought Srixon 565/765 combos with Modus 120X thinking Nippons would be smoother than C-tapers, started having elbow issues, but so far they seem to be even harder on my elbows. I just decided to go all in for graphite, and I've always wanted to try Pings, demoed the i200s extensively, was impressed. Won't be here though for a couple of weeks.

I went into my fitting wanting to try graphite and really wanting switch to graphite for similar reasons, but as soon as I started hitting balls with my clubs the fitter with Ping was like "no way you should go to graphite" because my ball flight and spin were so high and my current clubs were already X stiff.

A follow up since I got my irons last August.

Not sure about the i200 with graphite for me. Spin seems high (as is the ball flight) with the Recoil 110 F5s. I ordered them D2 +1/2 inch powerspec lofts, which is over their stock SW, they just seem at times active at impact. My biggest gripe is the shorter irons, I just seem to either spin them a lot and or/ hook them more than I want too. Don't seem to have the problem with the 4-5 iron, I have hit many really good shots with my 4 iron, many unacceptable shots with the short irons....

I have been doing a fair amount of rehab on my elbows and they are much improved. I am actually going to try the new Rogue Pro irons with KBS tour V Shafts. I could see liking the i200s more with steel for my swing...

Was a Titleist guy for a long time (710 AP2s) and finally modernized my bag and got the I200 with KBS Tour. The feel is like nothing i have ever experienced. They feel so smooth and soft, in a good way. Love the performance thus far. I dont feel much difference in distance vs my old irons, but alot more control and forgiveness.

also got the 50 degree U wedge and LOVE IT. its deadly for chip and runs and 100 yds.

I just picked up a used/like new i200 set exactly to my specs (from having owned ping in the past) and took them out today. I was interested in the clubs, but maybe more interested in the 110 stiff recoils. I play 95s in jpx900 hms but felt something missing. I've played better with shafts in the 105-110g range, but was trying lighter (getting older).

First impressions: short to medium irons are like a dream. Consistent launch, distance, feel, control. Love the nice thump sound (to me, the bounce is perfect), very solid, predictable. Exactly what I want 170 yds and in.

Distances were close to slightly longer than I expected based on the players club billing. My nominal iron chs runs mid 80s (low 90s if I step on it). I hit the pw slightly past the 122 yard flag on our range. I was about 8-10 yards past the 144 yd flag with an 8. About 4-5 yds short of it with the 9. I was a little past the 162 flag with the 7. I flew the target green around the 162 with the 6, so probably 170-175.

I was inconsistent with the 5 iron...probably 185-190 on decent strikes. I have a 26* compact a12 pro hybrid head I'd probably be better off carrying with the right shaft. The i200s have plenty of forgiveness...I just think my swing imperfections show up with longer shafted irons (I play +1/2", so the 5 iron is physically pretty long). I usually hit pretty close to the middle of the face, but my release is erratic due to swing changes to protect a shoulder injury.

Launch was medium- high which I like. Easily knocked down. These are precision instruments for a pretty good ballstriker, with enough forgiveness to get away with some mediocre swings.

Highly recommend with the right shaft of course.

Prefer 110 recoil to 95. Felt more stable, had a better transition.

Just picked up my new i200s today. Modus 105s in them. Can't wait to try them out on the course! :)

After a couple more sessions, still love the i200s. Have adjusted and hitting the 5 iron about as well as anything, plenty of forgiveness. I could probably play the 4 but my adams hybrids hit straight and are low stress.

On a per degree basis, distance is solid and what you'd expect. It was super windy yesterday which made me wonder about going power spec (which only costs $30 btw) to slightly lower flight and spin. I'll think about it, but it was a 20 mph wind straight into our face on the range...everybody was affected.

Love the consistency. Pulled out a 50* tour s wedge still in great shape, perfect gap for the set vs spending cash on a new glide.
