Project X Handcrafted EvenFlow reviews ***WRX TEST GROUP REVIEWS***

Recommended Posts

The time has come to do the reviews on the Project X EvenFlow's. Mine shipped a little later than most because I selected the EvenFlow Black 65 in 6.5 flex. I don't know if any of the other reviewers selected this model in this flex so I don't know who all got their later but I know now that all of the blues and blacks are in the reviewers hands.

So with that said, I'll start here.

I am on my way right now to get an adapter for mine. It came in and is a beautiful looking shaft. The logo is awesome. It's subtle yet bold. The detail in the wavelike swirls looks awesome as well. I tried to capture those details in the pics below. I haven't had an opportunity to hit it yet, as I said I'm going to buy the adapter for it now as it came in later in the week this week and today is my first day off work.

Enjoy the pics:

BTW, how did this thread end up in Club Tech forum? It is most definitely pre-release.

I received an Even Flow Blue 65. I've been swamped with work, house projects, and a short vacation but managed to get out to the range and try it out. Early results are very promising. I can really feel it load but it doesn't feel loose. I love the way the HZRDUS Yellow feels but I think the Even Flow Blue feels even better. It kind of reminds me of the PX LZ but with better, smoother feel...maybe a touch tighter feel too. Seemed fairly easy to turn over which is good to help with my push block power fade I sometimes play. I'm going to try to get out this week and see if range results translate to on course results. Don't have any pics yet but will get some soon.

What's the difference between blue and black?

The Even Flow is an expansion on the product line not a T1100/HZRDUS replacement. It's actually the opposite, it's for those the HZRDUS line doesn't fit. It's EI profile is for those that have a smoother transition or want to feel the shaft load or feel lag or prefer a softer feel. That's a contrast to the HZRDUS (especially t1100) that's for people that have an aggressive transition or don't like to feel the lag.

The blue is the higher launching and spinning of the 2 models. Black is lower in both areas.

It takes a lot of talent (or lack of) to hit that shot.

Aright fellas -- played two rounds with this guy on the weekend -- have some interesting thoughts on it, specifically when compared to the Copperhead.

Driver Specs:

- 2017 M2 (non-tour head) 10.5* with lead tape on heel, forward

- both shafts play to 45.25" long

- both setups listed below were played at D4 (copper) and D5 (even flow black) respectively

- both setups were put in the standard loft position

- neither shaft has been tipped

Even Flow Black 65g 6.5(X):

This shaft is a T1100 that's been massaged. The T1100 was a bit firmer, more stout, harsher feedback -- but flat out delivers good ballspeed, decent low spin (unless the indian puts a bad move on it) and dispersion is pretty good but doesn't like to go left. The Even Flow Black is a smoother, just as stable, predictable, don't-go-left shaft with a paint scheme that's pretty darn awesome in my M2. I hit a bunch of bombs this weekend that just wanted to go absolutely dead nuts straight. It was obvious to me that the Even Flow Black, for me, was getting a touch less spin than the T1100 since a miss was just a baby cut, not a high spinny one out to the right (the T1100 felt like if you eazed off it a touch, it wanted to push balls right). i DID hit a few draws with it, but i really had to try to get it to work. realistically i'd just rather play a straight ball or a baby cut.

Now, i'm sure you're all wondering -- "but Gio...what about the 'walk on water' Copperhead?"

Here's the hard truth -- for my swing, and my golf game:

if i need to hit a fairway -- i use the copper.

if i want to hit bombs that roll for a long time -- i use the even flow.

when comparing the two, i know for a fact how far and where the copper is going - i know i'm just getting used to the even flow, but i can tell from where i was on the course (played this course 5+ times with the copper already) that the even flow was a consistent 10y or more past the copper.

when comparing the two for FEEL -- i think it's honestly a toss of a coin. the copper has a bit more of an energy release feel while the even flow is a lot like a blueboard type (sorry diamana) feel with whiteboard results.

if anyone has questions on how the even flow black compares to any of the following -- i'll gladly try to answer them

- T1100

- KK DC

- Copperhead

- Black Mamba

- Speeder Pro XLR8

- KK XT

- GP-7/GP-6

- White/Blueboard series

- Tensei Pro White

i'll take some pics tonight - however it would appear rookieblue took care of that.

How does it compare to the T1100 (65 6.5) and KK DC XT Proto (70TX)? Feel, distance, spin

I had the T1100 in 75g 6.5 -- the black is much smoother, less 'right' prone, spin is about the same, distance is about the same.

The XT proto feels a bit tighter, less 'kick' i guess you'd call it -- i'd say the XT is better in regards to dispersion; for me, i like the feel of the black. the XT is lower spinning and depending on what you launch your driver at, it COULD be longer than the black. all things being equal, they launch similarly to each other (each are the low of low) -- so distance gains over the other is really strike dependent at that point.

Currently testing a 75x Black. Easily the best shaft I have tested but my driver swing as of late is pitiful (see sig)

Delivers like the T1100 but with MUCH better feedback and feel.

here is recent quote from something i posted in the original PX EVEN FLOW thread when the shafts first started making their way on tour. many people seem to be confused or thinking that this is another iteration of the HZRDUS line - when in reality it couldn't be further from the truth... (the comparison below was in response to the t1100 vs even flow black)

"the even flow is extremely smooth. if you are comparing profiles and balance points - two shafts that are very similar are the tensei white / tour ad gp (smooth lower launch spin shaft) - the even flow is even smoother and straighter. the t1100 has a completely different balance point - it is the ying to the even flow's yang - swings different/feels different while maintaining a powerful sound and feel off the face. if you play a t1100 and like the stability while you turn and unload from the top - the even flow will still be stable - the difference being you will literally feel the energy transfer in the taper during delivery as opposed to impact. tipping (even flow) 1" doesn't change that energy transfer in the taper whereas tipping the t1100 the same amount will firm it up even more."

for the record i do not have a smooth transition - so this is not as tailor made for me as the t1100 which is a perfect fit... that being said comparing it to other shafts in the same category this is very efficient - and maintains a stronger ball flight.

you will find other useful information on the thread link below...

using a t1100 5.5 untipped for my 99-105mph swing and getting great anti-left results - launch is good with the 5.5 for me

which model - black or blue and flex would you suggest Gents?

appreciated

I agree with the above. I have an aggressive transfer and use the T1100 in my driver but I have found the EF Black to be a great fit in my 3 wood. I am just starting to play around with the Even Flow Black in my driver too as it is not quite as anti-left as the T1100. I want something I can turn over when I really need to and the T1100 just hits straight awesome power fades.

I find the Even Flow Black and Blue to be more stable than the Tensei Pro White and Blue with similar feel.

And as mentioned above, Black 6.0 or 5.5 tipped .5"-1". Performance will be similar to the T1100 just a different feel and not counterbalanced.

Thank you

appreciated

Cannot wait to try it - the t1100 is great as stated, but it would be nice to have a tight little draw when called for again....

How does the Blue compare to Black

one last question

Blue 6.0 and Black 5.5 - would that be the right combo for me if i were testing?

You wouldn't necessarily need to go with different flexes, the Blue just has a little softer tip so it will launch higher and spin more. Think the difference between the Tensei White and Blue.

Got to spend some more time with the Even Flow Blue yesterday and am still enjoying it. It feels so smooth! I also seem to be more consistent with it. My guess it is probably fits my swing better than the HZRDUS Yellow. With the Yellow, my miss was high and right (I tend to do this when I don't maintain posture). While that miss can still be there with the EF Blue, it seems less severe. I also have an easier time turning it over. With that said, I have yet to hit a big snap hook (when can happen on occasion).

I hit it a lot back-to-back with an Atmos Blue 7 a lot yesterday. The weights are different so it really isn't a great comparison but I thought the shafts performed similarly. The Atmos feels a little more stout...not so much stiffer, just not as active and lively. This may be due to the weight difference though. I have not spent a lot of time with the Atmos Blue so I can't really say how I hit it over an extended time, but I was hitting it very well yesterday.

I'm a big fan of Fujikura shafts and have liked and played a lot of their stuff over the years. So for me to say the Even Flow Blue is right there with the Atmos Blue (or maybe ahead) is a big compliment.
