Graphite Design Tour AD TP vs Hzrdus Black

Has anyone hit both of these shafts? How would you compare the 2? I have the Hzrdus black in 6.0 75 grams in my M2 Driver. My good strikes feel great and give a nice, penetrating ball flight, but mishits feel like garbage and leak right almost always. It feels super boardy, even with my quick tempo (SS about 109-111 depending on the day). I already ordered the AD TP 6s. I know, I know I should have hit it first, but I didn't have that option. I read a lot about it before ordering and I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight into what I can expect in comparison to my Hzrdus Black. Thanks in advance!

I think you should have went with Xflex......i am hitting the tp6x and my swing is a bit slower than yours. In comparison with the HZrdus Black, i think you will notice the shaft to be smoother and have a bigger kick. Spin is about the same and the black might be a tad bit lower launch

Thanks for the reply. I've tried so many x-flex shafts in the past, even though my SS warrants an X-flex, they never quite feel right in my hands. Tipping an inch usually does the trick so If I find the TP is a bit too whippy I may tip it 1/2 inch and see where I'm at. Or my pro shop may let me return it, they're pretty good about that sort of stuff.

I have lower ss than you and have had x flex in my last two shafts, speeder 757 and red tie, and I prefer them to stiff. I don't find them any harder to load, and I get tighter dispersion. I guess it depends on the player, but if you have issues with going left like me x is the way to go.

I have issues leaking right, my main issue on bad swings is that I don't finish my backswing. It amazes me the speed I get with a 3/4 driver swing lol. But I think the fact that it has less time to load has something to do with it. I just can't seem to turn over most X-flex shafts. That's talking premium shafts anyway. Like I said, tipping a stiff shaft seems to be a happy medium for me. It's likely more of a mental thing than anything else.

Sounds like you know you're game. In all honesty I buy second hand so don't have any say in what flex I get. Used to always go stiff is possible, but after using the x flex shafts I am converted. Funny thing for me is that in my irons I play best with regular. I guess I must just go at driver too agressively and need a stiffer flex to handle it. I swing much smoother with irons. Sometimes people are surprised to see reg shafts in my irons after watching me hit driver with x flex.

I know you asked about TP but. I bought an M1 and an M2 last year, one with GP6X and one with HZRDUS Black. HZRDUS Black was a bit more boardy and had slightly less distance. Was maybe a touch better dispersion but the harsher feel was a deal breaker. GP was perfect. Smooth feel, low launch, great distance. Maybe just a smidge more sidepsin but the rest of the package was that much better that I went with the GP.

I haven't hit TP. IMO it sounds close to the Nippon Regio Formula M which is like the Tour130 iron shaft profile. Stiffer butt/middle and an active tip. To me those shafts launch higher and spin less but feel very very firm during your swing and have a bit of a mushy softer feel at impact. I like the launch characteristics though.

From everything I've read, the TP is basically an updated DI but with a firmer tip. It launches lower than the DI with less spin but produces more carry as well. Not quite as whippy as the DI but a similar feel. And I'm willing to bet it feels a lot better than the Hzrdus black. Im really looking forward to hitting it. It should be in this week.

I know you said you haven't hit the the TP, but I was fit into 130X, recently went to 130S just to help with achieving a smoother tempo and still being able to load the shaft properly. You think the TP is a good profile driver shaft for someone who plays Modus 130 based on what you have read? I have been intrigued by this shaft for some time.

I'm in the same boat now. I have the HC Hzrdus Black 6.0 and picked up the AD TP 6s via golfwrx. My SS is around 110 but still playing stiff. (Some context: I used to play all x-stiff shafts but went back to stiff when I realized I didn't have the SS. I was on the border between stiff and x-stiff. However, lately i have been really making some drastic changes to my swing and fixing a lot of faults: early extension, "goat humping" in to out swing path........ since then SS has increased quite a bit).

The Hzrdus definitely feels stiffer. The flight is much lower for me as well. I'm averaging around the 275 carry mark.

The GP feels so smooth. Definitely a higher launch/ball flight. It feels "lighter" for me as well. Problem is that I feel like I'm leaking the shots a bit to the right whereas the misses with my Hzrdus is to the left. I need to spend more time with them. Could be a swing issue. Overall though, I think I like the GP better. Feels like I'm carrying the ball further.

I have the TP 7x in my M1 and love it. I have hit my buddy's Handcrafted Hzdrus black 6.5 75g in my driver head. I thought the Hzrdus felt much harsher. The TP launched lower for me. Don't have any info on spin and distance. Feel wise I liked my TP much better and I've been hitting the TP/M1 combo 10-15yds (at least) further than my old 915D3/Rogue combo.

I think the TP would be a very good shaft in a HL 3w head. smooth like the DI but the tip is much firmer and lower spinning for me.
