Getting into College Golf as a Non-Junior

Just keep us updated, because there are more like you out there that are curious about the same thing. If what he says about D2 is correct, that sounds really promising.

 

Yeah I agree, I'm definetly calling and asking about that because that would be perfect to get into. Hopefully it is correct I will update after I call again for sure.

 

What program does Niagra classify PGM under? I'm in the Ferris program where we end up with a bachelors in marketing as well as PGM. It works out nice because if you decide that you want out of the industry at some point, you have the degree to fall back on...

 

Business Admin bachelor degree along with the PGM and you have the option to transfer into one of the following university degree programs:

 

Bachelor of Mgmt

Bachelor of Applied Business- Golf Management

Bachelor of Science in Commerce

Bachelor of Commerce- General Studies

Honours Bachelor of Arts- Sport Management

I graduated high-school and played one year of baseball at a juco. Then transferred to a d1 university and ended up having tommy johns surgery. i then went to work for my dad at his insurance agency. 6 years later, at the age of 26, I was playing golf in a bar-b-que tournament with the golf coach at a d2 school. I ended up getting a scholarship to go back and get my degree. In d1, you have 4 years or 8 semesters of eligibility from your first full-time semester in any college. For d2, you have 8 semesters with no "clock" like in d1. I had a blast and there were no "chemistry issues" on our team regarding my age. I felt a little wierd around the 18/19 year old chicks, but i got over it..... I was actually one year older than the coach....

I'm just finishing my first year college and didnt play on the schools golf team (thought i would loose a year of eligibility if i did) well that doesnt matter now, because i just lost a year because i was a full time student wish i knew this ahead of time.

 

right now im working with a recruiter CAPS if any one has heard of them, and there working to get a scholorship for next year.

 

I want to take a year of school off and just go work and travel.

So by taking next year of school off and have been a full time student for 08-09 is my clock still going to be running and i would lose 2 years of NCAA eligabilty, or will i only lose the one year?
