Rant about golf announcers

I am having a real problem with these golf announcers. All they talk about is how Spieth isn't long, blah blah blah. If you listened to them, you would think Spieth only hits the ball 200 yards. Can they talk about anything else? Or is distance the only think they are competent enough to talk about?

 

*I don't mean the good guys like Faldo, Begay, or Miller. But Joe Buck, Kelly on GC seem to only be able to say one thing.

I'm not a spieth defender or fan either, but I think he is being done a disservice. Now if you send Joe Buck to Gitmo, I won't be complaining about this anymore...

Well nowadays it seems more important to hit the ball far than win a golf tournament.

I agree Sean. What difference does distance make if you aren't winning. My argument was saying that distance was overtalked about. And also, Spieth does hit the ball far.

I am not a spieth fan. I like my golfers to have a little personality. But I am a neutral opinion here.

Thursday and Friday announcers are from TNT Network and they simply don't seem to have the experience of the regular crews from CBS, Golf Channel, or NBC and are, in my opinion, pretty inane in their commentary.

I look forward to Saturday and Sunday for more insightful reporting of the event.

I has to be hard coming up with matters to discuss as the die gets cast--but some babble is better than other babble.

Does it go something like "Spieth is not long off the tee and not very accurate off the tee but he makes up for it with other parts of his game" and you stop listening at the 'not long' part? I find it hard to believe they don't talk about what has him near the top of the game and would fully expect them to also talk about what parts of his game are not at the top of the game. If all they talked about were the best part of players games that would get boring much sooner.

Rickie hits hit chip to short side and he hit a mediocre shot at best, line was 8 feet off and hit it too hard ending up with a 20 foot putt yesterday. So on his first attempt he did the best can do! thats insulting! cause Rickie can make that shot or put it to 1 inch not 20 feet you lazy commentator

No what they say is that Spieth will be coming in with 6 iron to other players pw, (Which is BS, he isn't 4 clubs short) and then say it is a bombers course. Give me a break.
