I typically just shove them back into the plastic sleeve from whence they came. Surely, there must a better way to store gloves to promote longetivity.

this is what I was told is good/best, as it allows for some air flow, but perhaps the ziploc is the right move?

not sure :) I will be using a new gloves today, so I will try the ziploc and see what happens.

I just keep mine attached to the outside of my bag and it stays supple. Keep it in your golf bag and it'll get stanky.

I wash my gloves on a regular basis...it's amazing how much salt, oils, and dirt they can accumulate. The only time I have to replace a glove is when the velcro wears out.

Sean, are they leather gloves or synthetic? I might try this.

Thanks

After play I put my glove in the mesh bin on my bag with the glove straightened out. When I get home I simply stick the glove (fingers up) on the umbrella handle on my spare bag and let sit for a few days. Like golf shoes you need to allow leather products like gloves a day or two of "rest" for a longer life. Never had a problem. I was always told you need to let the leather breathe after use so I don't know how effective sealing the glove in a bag would be.

Both. The bionic glove I can just throw in the washing machine. Other gloves I will wash with dish soap and give them a thorough cleaning/rinsing. At the same time I clean my grips too, because they too accumulate a lot of dirt/oils. The other day someone grabbed one of my clubs and asked if it was a new grip. No, I just keep them clean. My current grips are 8 months old, have seen close to 100 rounds of golf and many practice sessions.

Good Lord, I'm jealous you've gotten in close to 100 rounds in the past 8 months. I'd have to add up the last 4 years to get that! Darn adulthood is ruining my golf game. To the original post, I also place my gloves back in to the package from whence they came. I simply fold the thumb over and neatly place them back - free of creases/wrinkles. It has served me well over the last 20+ years.

Q, I didn't start the game until I turned 50. Since my retirement I average more then 200 rounds a year. I have a lot of catching up to do!

I use a simple Ziploc bag to preserve my gamer gloves. Push all the air out then seal. Gloves last much longer this way for me at least.

Do you do this if they are sweaty? or let them dry first. I have always just shoved in my golf bag.

I used to shove mine in a pocket but then it smelled like... well, it smelled bad so now I hang it on my bag. I think because it's a synthetic leather it doesn't get hard.

Ziploc bag works great for me too.

Agree, good old Ziploc works just fine.

so what you are saying is that after a round of golf you put a sweaty leather glove into a ziplock bag that does not breathe? In the summertime, my gloves only last about a month and a half at most, then it is time for a new one. I just put them back into a breathable pocket on my golf bag.

After play i attach my glove to the outside of my bag, it has a velcro place to attach it. They last several months doing this way.

I have a golf dresser i use for all my golf stuff and keep my new gloves in there package in one of these drawers with no issues. I have some that are 3 to 4 years old and look and feel like new. I liked a glove so much I knew they would stop making so i bought a bunch.

Issue now is i am running out and have to pick a new one. LOL

How do you clean your grips?

I use a nylon brush and dishwashing detergent. A dab of detergent on the brush, wet the grip, brush down the grip, rinse off grip, pat dry grip.

Ziploc Bag.

Do not leave them in the car trunk in hot weather... they get very firmish after you sweat in them.

I've always stuck them on the outside of my bag, either to the velcro glove grab or velcroed around the towel ring. I usually get ~half a season out of a glove playing ~2-4 rounds and ~1 range session a week. I've washed with dish soap a time or two and while the glove did come out cleaner, after drying it was also more hard/brittle. I usually give up on a glove for being hard/brittle before I actually develop a hole. I will say I don't usually soak a glove with sweat and keep it on the entire round including putting and in the cart... if a glove gets notably wet, it's either from drink condensation or handling a ball just plucked from the edge of the water (I play in the evening and collect balls along the way).
