I currently have the 9.5 '16 M1 and I'm looking to switch to the M2. The 9.5 is a bit low for me in the M1 so should I stick with the 9.5 in the M2 or go up to the 10.5? For those who have hot both M1/M2 - do the lofts play the same in both?

I played both. Hated the M2, liked the M1 much more. I found the lofts to play pretty much the same, maybe M1 a little lower but not by much and overall I thought it was more forgiving and felt better. I never did try either in a 10.5 but constantly thought it might be the right loft for me in these heads. I would definitely try the M1 again, but I was not impressed by the M2.

Ha, was all set to pull the pin on a 2017 M1 and after looking in on this thread maybe a 2016 M2 is worth a test now. :dntknw:

Just a follow up. Purchased a 2016 M2 yesterday with a Kuro Kage Black shaft installed and all I can say is WOW! Enjoyed my Titleist 915, but it is officially retired. :D

Good call.

Agree. I purchased a 2017 M2 head a few weeks ago. i already sold it. It didn't sound or feel near as good as my 2016. Both heads had hotmelt added as well.

Still game the 2016. Played a draw when I bought it and the left side was basically out of play. Felt like I couldn't make it go left. Then got into big lateral shift and started with the hard lefts. After a bit of fighting it, decided to go to a fade. Have been working that in and notice it's easy to lose the 2016 m2 right. Haven't tried the 2017 but may have to since it seems to be draw biased.

Same as most of these guys. I didn't even bother to hit the 2017 though. I tried a Epic SZ for awhile and I did find it "could" be longer at times. But not by much and those were absolutely perfect, nutted drives. Unfortunately I just didn't hit the SZ near as straight consistently. I rarely have a round where I spray it all over the place, but bad swing to bad swing, the SZ was more penal. So my average drive is straighter and longer with the M2. And being that I got fit for it I know that I'm not going to find a driver that the launch and spin are any more optimized on. So it just comes down to ball speed. As someone else said it will be 3 to 5 years before someone comes out with anything better than the TM M series or the Callaway Epic.

I've owned a bunch of drivers, too many to even remember. But when I sit here and think about it I can only think of just 4 or 5 drivers that have come out in the last 10 years that were noticeably better than a 2007 Burner TP or Titleist 905R. The M2 would be one of them. I'm gonna keep this one for awhile. It's been 1 year and a half now which seems like a lifetime. But I'm convinced that if I can't play my best golf with this driver, I should just quit.

Little update since my 2016 M2 was replaced by 2017 M2.

All same setup with 2 degree up from 9.5* to 11.5*. 2016 M2 still had comfortable baby fade but with the same swing 2017 M2 is pully time to time. I had to move back to 9.5 to avoid way right pull shot.

I like the sound of 2017 M2 better. But mine is "K" serial so cant vouch on all of 2017 M2.

Performance wise they both are the same. 2017 M2 is little more dispersed for me at this point but i think that is mainly due to i am still adjusting new "pully" driver.

2 degrees up from 9.5 means the face is way closed..thus the pulls, especially is the 2017 is more draw biased than the 2016

In the minority here it looks like but I have a tour issue 8.5 2017 m2 hotmelted and the heavier tour weight and like it way better then the 16 m2 8.5 I had both in distance and forgiveness and I fight hooks even

I hope your jesting.

A TI '17M2 is apples to oranges to a retail '16 M2. TI's are usually hot- melted, at least D3, and usually .5*+ open.

Yup. But 2016 M2 wasnt pulling with the same setup 2* up with face clsed. Definitely 2017 M2 is more draw biased

This is the Key.

You have to loft up with the 2016M2 as it hits low. .Remember the mantra of high launch and low spin. The head is definitely low spin so you have to loft up. I have the 12 degree high launch and its superb.

Other than that, you won't find a better driver (in general without being fit). It just looks and feels great and has a lot of forgiveness and does it go. Its not by accident you see the pro's using the 2016M2 (and not the M1 or the 2017M2) Just watch the tube and you'll see this is the case. I bought mine sight unseen and have never looked back. Spent a lot on Callaways and they are in the bin. After I bought it, I found out the the guy who runs the dome I practice at during the winter also bought it and so did his son and on and on.

16 M2 is the truth!!!! Just custom built a 16 M2 for my buddy weighted up to D5.5 line he prefers. Kicked his LTD Pro out after one round and if you haven't hit it, LTD Pro is s DAM good driver.

That make 6 buddies now who have moved to 16 M2 and NONE of them are TM guys, in fact 4 of them hate TM gear but the 16 M2 is universal good.

I don't necessarily agree with this. I have a TI 8.5 head turned down to 7.5 and it still launches very high, higher than you would expect for that loft setting. M2 is decently low spin but CG is still low and rear. Low rear CG = high launch. Additionally, I try to hit on top half of the face as I see the best performance there, this just adds to the high launch I get with this club.

Agreed on loft, put a 10.5 2016 up to 11.x or 12 and BOMBS AWAY

The HL is really good from 11.5 right to 12.5 as well

I went from a G LS that I only replaced because i cracked the face to an Epic SZ that I never gelled with to a 16' M2 with a 757 TS and it's the best driver I've ever hit, hands down. May have just gotten lucky finding my grail combo or head and shaft.
