How many golf bags do you buy in a year?

I've had the same bag for several years and the only reason I'm buying new is because it doesn't sit well on my Clicgear. I'll use mine for my spare set and leave them at my brothers house in California for when I visit.

 

I had a Titleist Ultralight Stand bag for the longest time. Very earliest version of that bag they made. I'll bet I bought, used briefly and ultimately gave up on half a dozen bags over those years and never stuck to a different bag for longer than a few weeks.

 

Finally I somehow ripped the curtain divider out loose from its stitching inside the bag on a vacation trip and had to retire it. So now I have a Titleist Lightweight Stand bag (2014 model) that I keep using. I've bought two other bags since then, a big ol' cart bag for my trolley and an ultralight "minimalist" bag. They both sit in the closet and I keep using the Titleist.

 

That's why I said upthread I'm pretty sure i won't be buying any more bags soon. Why pay a couple hundred bucks for something that'll be relegated to the closet after a dozen rounds?

Bought another bag I don't need... new Adams 9" staff bag for $90 from Golfetail after stacking a code on top of a deal-of-the-day. I'll probably sit in my office for a few months or until spring and then get sold after never seeing the light of say, much less the course.

I have a $112 exchange credit from Carl's Golfland that I plan to use towards a bag. The ones I like the looks of are the Ogio Stinger and Ping Traverse. The other option is to eat the return shipping for the shoes and order a bag elsewhere. I don't like buying a bag online but I did previously with success.

 

Update- Carl's refuses to pay return shipping even on an exchange for a bag so I will buy elsewhere.

Bought a Sun Mountain 4-5 in 2010 for cart and push cart, and a 3-5 in 2012 for carrying and to hold my extra clubs. Looking at replacing the 4-5 with a Ping Pioneer possibly.

I have a very old (over 20 years) King Cobra bag in the garage with just as old clubs in it..

I have a Cobra carry bag that I won on a golf day many years ago and just kept it,

I have a Mizuno blue cart bag that I had to have, it was 2nd hand but in great condition, it's in the corner of my study with a set of MP-59's in it.

I have my sons 4 year old Mizuno cart bag that he stopped using and went to a carry bag,

And I have my Sun Mountain cart bag that I use all the time.

Taking the Ping Pioneer back because there's 2 good size holes in 1 of the valueables pockets. I thought about seeing them but it's tough to get to and it bothers me too much to keep it. I'm sure they don't have any older models to exchange it for and I don't want to pay $80 to upgrade to this years.

- 5 months ago I picked up an Ogio Silencer from RBG with a bunch of trade credit. I really enjoyed the bag but over that time 4 or 5 of the slots lost their grip tension. I'd planned on waiting until close to the end of the warranty period to get a replacement.

 

- Last week I picked up an Adams Staff Bag, mostly because for $90 brand new I figured it would look good in my office holding spare clubs if nothing else. When it arrived I liked it even more than I expected and ended up gaming it for a few rounds.

 

- I decided to go ahead and get a warranty replacement for the Silencer. They were out of Silencers until Feb. '18 when new color come out, so they ended up sending me a Shredder Stand and a Tyro Cart just reach the same value (they were trying to push me towards a backpack or other luggage item of which I need even less than more golf bags).

 

- I decide I really like the Shredder stand bag and move my gamers over to it and put my backups in the Adams Staff bag. This empties a 4-5 year old Titleist 7-way stand bag which I end up giving to a buddy of mine.

 

- I take the Tyro Cart bag into PGASS and they let me exchange it for store credit... but since I don't have a receipt, they make me use the credit on the spot... I end up walking out with a Wilson Staff Nexus II cart bag. I've had the Wilson home for about 10 minutes and can already tell the club organization grips just aren't going to work out for me (partially layout, partially that they don't grip tight enough) so it will be going back to PGASS for another exchange... maybe this time I'll just put it towards a GolfBuddy LR5S or Leupold GX-2i2.

Go with the Leupold GX-2i2...I love mine. Budgetgolf has them reasonable and do 20% off pretty frequently.

I buy one and use it until I can't anymore.

 

The way I look at it, the bag is one of the few pieces of equipment that has no physical effect on your game, so why spend much time thinking about it?

From my post above, I think I've settled into keeping the Ogio Shredder Stand for day-to-day gamer use, the Adams 9" Staff for backup/office display (my backup irons & fairways are Adams), and an Academy E-300 14-Way Cart for garage spare club storage and for if I get the itch to go back to a 14-way cart bag.

 

Now, since the Adams staff bag will be mostly for office display, I need to decide if I want to put my name and maybe company logo on it like a real poser... in computer-cut vinyl letters for when I inevitably decide to sell it.

I bought a Callaway bag with my Big Bertha OSes in February. The stupid magnetic catch on the valuables pocket was useless and the dividers didn't do a very good job. I've just taken delivery of a Sun Mount C130 (last year's model) and it's much better. It might finally be my perfect bag.

Bags are a golfer's on course toolbox. I look for ease of use, features and durability.

 

My current one is a TEE Extreme 3. Dandy bag for a push cart. Pockets are placed perfectly. Dividers reach all the way down. Lightweight too. Smaller footprint than a C-130 and almost as roomy. Thing doesn't show wear yet - and it has taken some good licks.

 

My old C-130 gave good service for about a decade.

That bag taught me a valuable lesson. Don't get red.. After a while, red fades to dull pink.

 

Get white, black, even dark blue. Don't get red. LOL.

In 40 years playing i probably bought 5 bags. (I used to like tour bags to match my clubs, that accounted for 2.) Ive had lots more though. In the UK it was, win a comp get a bag. One of the things they knew every competitor had. Never made sense to me.Currenty in the garage i have 2 tour, 3 stand and a cart bag.

My camo Silencer cart bag has over 300 rounds on it now, still works great. I did buy a new dark grey one this year (2017 model), as I found a great deal, but it is just sitting and waiting until it is needed.

 

As much stuff as I buy, actually proud of myself on the bag front.

You had much better luck than me... my '16 model lasted for about 30 rounds, by which time 4-5 of the slots had lost grip and rotated freely.

Guess it was one (or was it two?) in 2016, ten one bag bought, tried and returned in 2017, then none this year and can’t imagine getting one next year. The decent ones are so darned expensive nowadays.
