MG 600S Rangefinder

Recommended Posts

I am a big fan of MG golf gloves and just noticed they are selling a rangefinder. I am in the market, wondering if anyone has used them or has one? If so, do you like it?

I just bought a mg600s myself. I have used it twice. I like it so far. I'm not sure I quite know how to read it in RD Slope mode yet. It gives the distance and then above that it gives a +/- degree reading. I don't know it if the I should add or subtract for each degree it shows or not. Other than that I'm well pleased with it.

The user guide on the MG Golf website says that both the yardage that should be played (allowing for the slope) and the angle of the slope are displayed. So you need not make any further adjustments as the device has done that and is only showing you the angle as information..... They've lowered the price a bit, I'll probably jump on one this week. hopefully will work well, as I assume you're still pleased with yours..

I just bought the mg 600s and used it for the first time today. My previous rangefinder was a Busnell PinSeeker 1500 that I dropped in the parking lot last week, and it stopped reading. The 600s is considerably smaller and lighter. I've read reviews that called it fast and accurate. I found it fast to lock on the flag - faster than my aged Bushnell. But once it did that it took a second or two to display the yardage. Nothing terrible, but not as quick as the Bushnell once it locked. I found it to be very accurate and synced up with my buddy's rangefinder just like the Bushnell always was.

Β

For the price, I think it's great and the slight delay in displaying the distance is something I'll easily become adjusted to.

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like a solid buy.. do you find the jolt helpful or no?

In slope mode it shows actual yardage for about one second and then displays the plays like yardage and the slope angle.

Probably very close. Only difference I see is that this model has fog mode whereas the mg has jolt.

Β

Yeah I see that....too bad the MG version is in white lol I prefer black!

Β

The MG one seems better with the jolt vs the fog. Down here in Florida we dont really have to worry about fog

Bump anyone else buy one of these with any opinions?

Β

I bought one and just received it on Monday. I haven't tried it on the course yet but tested it outside against my old bushnell. It was about a yard off from my bushnell and seemed pretty consistent. It is easy to use and switch between the different modes. The jolt works well and locks on quick. It is A LOT smaller than my old bushnell 1600 and very lightweight which makes it feel kinda cheap, but as long as it works I don't care. I'll post another review after I compare it to my bushnell out on the course.

Update to my original post. I bought the MG 600S and find it to work as well as anything I have used. It is very accurate and for $119.00, I think it is a great value. May not be constructed as well as a $400.00 rangefinder but I have used in for several rounds now and works terrific.

Same here. I've used it quite a few times now and it works just as well as the big name brands.

I received one of these 10 days ago and played 3 rounds with it. Previously had a Callway RAZR (made by Nikon). So far, the MG is every bit as good. Didn't think I needed the LCD display on the side, but it's actually quite handy. I bought the RAZR used, but at a third the retail price, unless this MG model craps out in less than I year, I'll be quite pleased with the purchase.

I bought one around I believe Thanksgiving or Christmas last year. I've been using it and has been pretty good. The slope function works out pretty good. There are a few elevated holes on a course I play and now it gives me a good idea now on what club to use if I ever do forget to put the rangefinder in the bag. This is the first range finder I've purchased though but it's been great.

bump...any further updates on the MG rangefinders? Still going strong? Thanks.

Used mine for over a year and worked great, lost it about a week ago at my club and has not been turned in. Bummed, but at least it wasn't $400, going to buy another MG today. It works as well as anything for a fraction of the price.

I purchased the mg600s after my bushnell was stolen.Β  It arrived a couple of days ago, and I haven't had a chance to try it on the course yet, but I've been experimeningwith objects (trees, mailboxes, etc.) in the neighborhood.Β  I've tried both modes an always get obviously wrong readings, like single-digit readings on objects over 100 yards away.Β  I can't find anything on troubleshooting this device, so I don't know if it'sΒ  me or the rangefinder.Β  Anyone had similar issues, and/or know of a fix? Thanks
