Most Economical CR2 Battery Replacement?

Recommended Posts

I bought a sleeve of 10 for $16 on Amazon. Play 4 times a week and the battery has lasted a few months and still going strong.

Geaux Gators-why worry about finding them locally? They are way more expensive in stores. Just get them online was a great suggestion which you poo pooed for some reason.

No, I was kidding about the fact I was complaining about something locally when I could easily get it online.

Thought the lols would have given that away

hmm, I was responding to post #12 and a few others. No lol's to be found.

Bottom line these things are stupidly priced in stores. Or maybe it's just the name brands that are priced out of line. So either pay too much locally or buy online.

Thank you all who replied to my posts. It was much appreciated. If all else fails, I might sell my RF on craigslist and then just give the NX7 pro a try.

Only thing that worries me about the NX7 pro is that it's normal operating range is 400 yards, and then it's within 1yd only from 125yds and in. Meaning that a longer iron could roll right off the back of a green if it was off by 5 yds. I don't know though, I've never used one yet. Has anyone else had any good/bad feedback about the NX7 pro?

For example the Bushnell X2 pro operating range is 500+ yds I think, and the accuracy from 125yds and in is within half a yard.

Why couldn't they just make a rangefinder that uses 2 AA batteries setup in series(?) to increase the voltage from 1.5 (per battery) to 3v total. Life would be so much easier...And I could live with rechargeable AA's.

Here is comparison info on popular rangefinders. I have the Bushnell V4 which is rated for 1000 yards (!) and 400 yards for flags with 1 yard accuracy. After using mine all year the unit just works with no issues - quick, accurate, and reliable. Still on original battery and I play at least twice a week.

https://lasergolfrangefinder.com/

Too bad they didn't review the NX7 Pro. I've read a few threads that had good reviews. That site is a little awkward. For example it mentions the TecTecTec is water resistant in the pros, but in the cons it says a lack of water resistance. Kind of confusing. I think I'm going to stick with mine a little while longer and try those rechargeable batteries others have mentioned good results with. I'm sure I made the mistake with the bulk purchase of batteries that I got. Other folks are mentioning the other brands that are $1 a battery, but I'm going to try rechargeable. Recharge both and bring both. If it doesn't work well for the first 30 days, it's going to get returned and I guess I'll have to eat the cost of more expensive alkaline batteries.

Here is where I "poo poo'd" online purchasing

we have had a TON of rain lately (I'm not complaining as we have been in a serious drought for like 8 months) but my cart was not under the awning. my bag got SOAKED. I had 6 brand new CR2 batteries in there. when I cleaned out my bag, I didn't check my "cooler" pocket. my "valuables" bag got wet, and the only thing in it? the batteries. fast forward like a week or so (remember I live in NCFL) my battery dies, and I am all smart and have backup batteries... uh no.. they are completely corroded (NCFL summer humidity and heat)

So my only choice... go to get some locally...

WalMart, out..

Lowes.. 10 bucks each, and they only have 2

A couple years back I found an eBay vendor who sells them in 5-packs where each battery is individually sealed in a poly shrink-wrap and the set of five is all part of one strip of poly-bag material. It was the perfect packaging, hermetically sealed but not bulky at all.

Long story but I gave my spare strip of those away and don't see them for sale any more. It was great though.

Is there a Target in your area? They are still $7.00 for a pair and that's been the price for well over a year in the D.C. area.

Last time I purchased these they were $34 + taxes. $20 a battery. After two years and four batteries I had to get out of the disposable battery business. I agree with the AA battery proposal. Really like my Bushnell range finder so at least I've got that going for me : )

I'll sell you as many as you want for half that much, just $10 each. Let me know how many you need!

In US funds the batteries might be even more expensive, given exchange, shipping and customs fees. I'd have to pay you to keep them : )

I do appreciate the kind gesture.

What's the expiration dates of the batteries? I've read that batteries from Amazon can have a short shelf life...

10K thats pretty good.

my Bushnell goes through a battery a month or month and a half i think. I play three times a week, so thats what, approximately 20 rounds per battery?...

average score is around 80... I'm a 7 handicap right now.. so 25 putts a round... 15 chips.... so 40 times 20 = 800, and i shoot everything two to three times each.

so about 2500 times for me, and i might shoot some stuff for other people ... so lets call that 4500-5000.

half .... thats a big difference. maybe it lasts longer than that but it sure doesn't seem like it..

Im sure the battery has a lot to do with it.. but I was using Energizer batteries up until I found that 10 pack on eBay...

My OEM battery that came with my Nikon lasted 6 months almost to the day. That's about 65-70 rounds and I use it a lot in most rounds. Probably 20-25 distance measurements in a typical round, more occasionally. Call it 1,500-1,800 sightings.

My 80VR has active vibration reduction with a little servomotor moving a lens around inside. So it no doubt uses more juice because of that.

My Nikon (with an energiser Cr2) is good for 10k shots, 1 yr+.

Make sure your on single shot mode, as some of the models have a scan mode which will fire several more lasers per button press, and therefore eat into battery life.

If your not getting good life its worth checking the battery contacts in the battery compartment, as small bits of dirt/grass can get in (when you change the battery over).

Bushnells with Jolt will eat up batteries. I guess driving whatever little motor gives the vibration. Battery life on my Leupold was way better than partner's Bushnell, I generally go 60 rounds plus on one battery, he was changing a few times a year. I always keep a spare in a ziplock, he always borrows it so I bought a pack of three so "we" won't run out.

When I was in undergraduate school there was one girl who never wore a watch but during an hour-long test she would ask two or three times “Dr. So-and-So, how much time do we have left”? Very annoying for the professor and the rest of the class.

On final exam day, which was going to be three hours long, as the professor was handing out the test booklets my buddy Gary pulled off his watch and slapped it down on her desk. She looked confused for a minute but then shrugged and put it on her arm.

It was hilarious, not least because it was one of those ginormous men’s diving watches. It kind of rattled around between her arm and the desk while she was writing but at least she didn’t ask about the time that day!

I found a cheap 10 pack on the bay. Locally in the stores a two pack is 18 - 20 dollars. 10 pack was 12 bucks with shipping I think.

I have been using Battery Junction for years.

All their batteries are priced low.

I mentioned it long time ago, reply #6 but I guess no one bothered to read between opening thread and current thread. I've been using it for few years with no problems.

Now it's 85 cents per battery. I use about 2-3 batteries per year. I think I'll order some more because I split it with my club pro that sells it in his pro shop to his members.
