Does your putter have to be "pretty"

Most people definitely wouldn't consider my putter a beauty queen, but I think it is stunning. Something about raw carbon steel with light patina that just speaks to me.

 

Tad Moore "Garage Find" Pro 1 TS left completely raw and has a nice light patina. Paired with a Vibrant Golf matte black stepless shaft and black Gripmaster stitchback grip.

 

I have tried several other putters over the last year to try and knock it out, but it is just too comfortable for me.

That was one of 350 heads made back in 2001-02 when Tad did his interpretation of the Anser 2 for Nike in hopes of getting it into Tiger's bag.

 

Well, as history has borne out, that did not occur.

 

Did ya get that flat stick from Chip?

Picked up the head from chip about 1 year ago and built it at home. Has been the best putter I have ever used by far.

Not necessarily but it sure helps. I've only putted with a few over the past 40 years, started with an 8802, then to a bullseye, then Ping B60, Yes! (for about 5 years) then this year tried a used Cameron Newport 2 at a Golf Galaxy and it was so buttery; found a used custom purple one on eBay and man I love it. Never thought I'd be a Cameron guy (Almost every club in bag has been purchased used or on eBay except a birthday wedge) but just love it.

I use an Odyssey Big T blade, so obviously I don't care about how my putter looks.

F'in love this putter. Stayed in my bag all summer and I got it for $20

Pretty? Not necessarily. However, I can never figure out how someone can chip, gouge, and ding a 350.00 putter. How is this possible if you use a head cover?

I try to keep them nice, but the effort to keep them perfect will not be put forth by me. I'm not that patient/attentive. The headcover is always used on course, though.

I think the bigger and uglier it is the better I like it, most purist look at my putters and scowl at me. lol, started with a Ping Doc 17, ugly, 3-ball set,bettinard bb55...........

Yeah, the headcover is always used but clubs are tools. If worried about resale value leave'em at home.

Looks are only second to feel for me. But basically I pick a putter group based on feel and then choose the putter I think looks the best.
