I putt better with eyes outside the line?

I have a very Steve stricker style grip, wrists uncocked, to the point the heel is off the ground, I've tried setting up with eyes slightly inside or right on the line And grip more a la tiger, but I can't putt a thing, 4 3 putts per round and 1 4 putt per round the last 2 rounds, Distance control non existent, today went back to eyes an inch over the line and bam, 1 3 putt all round, all strokes within 1 foot of the hole and shot 6 over on front 9 (im 15 handicap)

 

Conventional wisdom says eyes outside the line is putting suicide, yet it works for me? is there anyone else who does this?

Whatever works, my friend. Putting is very individualistic, and if something works for you, don't worry about convention!

You need to putt with whatever gives you the most success.

 

FWIW, the grip that Tiger and a few other use (similar to their irons grip) is unconventional and requires exact timing and ball position along with precise timing. Having the grip go through your lifeline is far more conventional. Ideally, your eyes should be over the line or slightly inside it, but just outside is no different from just inside as long as you are used to seeing the line from that perspective.

He might have used a reverse overlap, but he gripped it much like his other clubs rather than through the life line.

Yeah I guess it's what's comfortable and makes u confident, mad how personal putting is, just put the ball in the hole!
