Gamed a Classic Napa for a while refinished in Pro Platinum,ideal for the European conditions as it is pretty maintenance free .

Sent it to custom shop a month ago so should have it in 20 days or so I'll give an update then on the restoration and custom work

I have and play a Newport 1.5. I also have a Newport 2 that I rarely play.

Just wanted to point out that there are actually two versions of the authentic Cameron Pro Platinum finish. The original is darker and a little more "matte" than the current one.

 

Here are some photos of my first generation 33/350 Mil-Spec and a second generation one where you can observe the distinct difference:

 

 

I currently own and have had a few more PP Camerons and don't have any negatives to say. Positives are...

 

1) softer feel of underlying carbon steel (almost imperceptibly "clickier" than non-plated carbon)

2) no glare since the finish is matte and not polished

3) virtually maintenance free but will rust if moisture is left to sit

 

The amount of offset seems to be different as well. Maybe produced in different factories.

I have 1 of each (1st Gen and 2nd Gen) of the Mil Spec's. 1st Gen is a 33/350 and 2nd Gen is a 34/340.
The Mil Spec is one of Scotty's all time greatest OTR putters IMHO.
I also have a Del Mar Three in PP. Also has a terrific feel, but at 330g it's a little light for my taste.

I have a Studio Style Scotty with the GSS insert and it has a much firmer feel than the carbon steel Mil Spec.

Play Mil Spec 33", what I dislike? eerrr....Bloody hard to find other putter to replace them as I want to give the PP a rest after a decade on slave. Any clues?

I have a PP mid slant I need to get rid of. In good shape but would probably like to go back for refinishing. I have moved to heavier putters and haven't used it in a couple years. I would probably let it go for $125 or so.

I had the finish pulled off a 33/350 mil spec. No easy task either. I would still pick up another if it was cherry and keep it original. One of my favorite putters he produced.

I still have and game my Newport 2 and Del Mar 3.5 Pro Platinums. I love them, soft feel and better feedback than stainless.

Sold my 33/350 Mil-Spec, but currently own a Del Mar 3.5, Laguna, and JAT (Custom Shop refinished in PP). Great maintenance free finish with the right balance of feedback/softness.

Have tried many (too many) different putters the last 10 years. Recently added Long super stroke grip with counter weight to my old Del Mar 3 PP. I have a 3 and 3.5. If I were in a beauty contest I'd put that 3.5 in the bag and line up against any bag on the line. When I want to make putts, I use the 3. Like they say in Fargo it's "kind of funny lookin" large, wide but with a small sweet spot, toe hang and all. But the ball goes in. I guess that makes it not so ugly!

I've been on the look out for a nice Pro Plat Newport 2 for awhile. I've had a Mil Spec before and it was great.

Have a couple rust spots on it (my fault for neglect) but still holding up well. Has hundreds upon hundreds of rounds on it.

I have a 34/330 with 20 grams of lead tape on the sole. It's a TeI3 in PP. Love the look at address and the feel is nice.

I game a PP Newport 2 in pretty much mint condition and a studio stainless as well. Both are 35/330 and play with the stock studio design grip. They're unbelievable with feel, but durability wise the studio stainless is much butter (oil cloths go a long way even with durable pro platinum). If you can snag a new looking PP Newport 2 with a somewhat lighter grip that doesn't throw off swing weight, it might be as close to a tour Carbon Newport 2 as you can get without paying $1,500+... as long as you're okay with the weight!
