Query About Adding A Sight Dot With A Drill Press

I hope I don't sound like too much of a novice when I ask this but I really have no clue.

I am thinking of adding a sight dot (I'll get someone to do it for me) by using a drill press. I told this to my 2 buddies that I was playing with today.

1 of my buddies is convinced that adding a sight dot by using a drill press will make the putter more hollow and will change the weight distribution of the putter and the feel will be completely different, proabably for the worse.

My other buddy is 100% convinced that the feel of the putter won't change at all if I get a sight dot by using a drill press.

If I think about it logically, I would think that the feel wouldn't change but I really have no idea and I'm only speculating.

To those who have had experience getting this done, does it change the feel of the putter?

Your logic is correct. The amount of material removed for a site dot, regardless of machine/equipment used, would not make any difference in the feel or performance of a putter.

I'll give third thumbs up for door #2. You remove almost less material than would be measurable, plus, it is dead center of the sweet spot, so you are not favoring either toe or heel bias.

Make sure that the part is dead solid and if possible, use a spot drill that has a good diameter and will not flex off of the original intended location. I learned the hard way, many years ago, LOL.

Do it very slowly with a good bit, and be sure it is directly above the sweetspot.

Had a dot drilled in my tour red spider. Zero change in feel.
